Does anybody know of a DEM viewer that lets you lasso with a rectangle so I can carve an exact area, and then in turn convert the capture to an output of 1024?
The problem I am having with 3DEM is that the image is so black because of the many low lands, that I cannot find the the features on the coast line on where to crop my image out in the image editing software.

Paint the water as white, grab the rectangle you want, then paint the water black again. :old:
Of course, you'll need to export the whole image to work on it in a paint program.

Thanks that worked perfectly

The Wiki is still down so I will ask this here (pretty sure the answer is their but I can't get at it)
Midi has a pdf that describes the steps of using 3Dem to grab a gray scale...
At the end of the his write up, he says "Auto Balance" the colors in the image.
Why?
When importing gray scales into AH as an elevation map, does the editor have a pre-set range of
gray it will accept? In other words do the values have to go from Black to White in 10 steps?
What are the step increments? If scaling the color values from 0 > 255 in ten (linear) steps you will end up
with steps that are 25.5 delta (impossible value to achieve).
Any general insight into the whole color scale thing would be helpful. Unfortunately, and in addition to
Wiki being down, The TE is also on the fritz as of the latest updates...

Disregard the question above...wiki is up and it explains that the scale all pixel values from 0 to 255
