Origin: Ernst Heinkel AG, also built by Arado Flugzeugwerke.
Type: He177, six seat heavy-bomber and missle carrier
Engines: Two 2,950hp Daimler-Benz DB 610A-1/B-1, each comprising two inverted-vee-12 liquid-cooled engines geared to one propellor.
Dimensions: Span 103ft 1 3/4 in (31.44m); length 72ft 2in (22m); height 21ft (6.4m)
Weights: Empty 37,038lb (16,800kg); loaded (A-5) 68,343lb (31,000kg)
Performance: Maximum speed (at 41,000lb) 295mph (472 km/h); initial climb 853ft (260m)/min; service ceiling 26,500ft (7080m); range with FX or Hs293 missles (no bombs) about 3,107 miles (5000km)
Armament: (A-5/R-2) one 7.92mm MG 81J manually aimed in nose, one MG131 in forward dorsal turret, one MG 131 in rear dorsal turret, one MG 151 manually aimed in the tail and two MG 81 or one MG 131 manually aimed at rear of gondola; maximum internal bombload 13,200lb (6000kg), seldom carried. External load: two Hs293 guided missiles, FX 1400 guided bombs, mines or torpedoes (more if internal bay blanked off and racks added below it.)
Users: Germany (Luftwaffe)
awesomness: better than any other plane :D
more info:Arado built 130 A-1s, followed by 170 Heinkel built A-3s, and 826 A-5s, which had repositioned engines and a longer fuselage. About 700 Greifs served on the Eastern Front, many of these having 50mm and 75mm guns for tank-busting duties. A few even (nervously) bombed England in 400mph shallow dives, without any proper aiming for their bombs. The aircraft proved so bothersome that Goering had to forbid Heinkel to pester him any more with plans to use four separate engines! But Heinkel secretly flew the He277 with four 1-750hp DB 603A at Vienna, as the first of a major production programme. The almost completly redesigned He274 was a high-altitude bomber developed at the Farman factory at Suresnes, with four 1,850hp engines, a 145ft wing and twin fins. After the liberation, it was readied for flight, and flown at Orleans-Bricy.

I love it. Sound familiar to one I proposed. Now my head is hurting because I can see and hear the answers coming. Most will be critical about its use, how many were produced and what little it was used. Anything to keep a new axis bomber out of the game. Hell we can't even get He-111's or Do-17 and Do-217. Oh less I forget it will probably get high jacked by someone else plugging their favourite instead of opening their own thread. I want it to.

The plane in real life won't even come close to mirroring the plane in AH. The He-177 was so beset with problems in real life that it was pretty much a failure. However, since AH doesn't model the issues that plagued the He 177, it would be a far better aircraft in game than it was in real life.
For that alone, I am one of the ones that does not feel that the He-177 is even needed in AH.

Like BAR321 with the M-18?
Or me with the Short Stirling :noid

tell me how a he111 would do in the MAs we need a non perked german bomber that has a chance in the MA

If the He-177 for some reason was added to this game, it would most likely be a perked bomber because it's performance in game would be vastly superior to that its real world performance was.
As for the He-111, it would have a chance in the MW and EW arenas and much needed to help fill in the gaps on both of those eras and for scenarios. The He-177 brings absolutely nothing to the table other than introducing a plane that bears no resemblence to how the plane was in the real world.

Because the MA really mimics the real world fight?

Was wondering if that is why you think the he177 wouldn't do very good in the MA
-
ok now that i have seen ack acks response,i can now say +1 +1+1...this or the do217 would be great in this GAME.
-
Enough with the negative feelings Ack- Ack. Woof, woof! :D
-
AKAK you know you want it, would't you love to shoot a few down in your 38? :D

I think the Ju188 or Do217 would be much more representative of what was used in WWII, and quite usable in AH as well.

HE-111

This has been discussed before, not as long ago... search button, if you cant remember a month back.
The 111 would be even worse than the ju88 in the MA. The most needed german bomber s still the ju-188: fast, could carry a relative heavy bombload, had OK defensive arnament with 4 or 5 13mms and an optional 20mm on the top coupola, was produced in numbers, was successful, was way more reliable than the 177 and had a night fighter variant too.
Other: the speed data you listed is possibly with the Fritz-X missle installed. It could do like 320-330mph with internal bombload or empty. But even tho they solved the engine overheat problems til '43, they couldnt complete the planned 4000 aircraft/month (LOL, 1100 made overall and only a very few after the update) and the 188 became the most used late war LW bomber.

Heck, if we're talking about MA usage why would we need any more German bombers at all?!
The HE-111 is still definitely the most needed German bomber to the planeset.

Who would fly a 250mph plane with 4000lbs ords, equipped with 6*7.7mms? Even tho thats a lovely lil ugly bomber, it would only find usage in the bob setups. Or cannon fodder.

I never said it wouldn't do good, I said the He-177 in Aces High would bear very little relationship with the real He-177. In real life, the He-177 was a dog due to a myriad of reasons (detailed in other threads, don't feel like rehashing). Since the issues that hampered the He-177 in real life aren't modeled in game so all the negatives that made it a relative unsuccessful heavy bomber wouldn't be in game.
Basically, AH would make a pile of turd into the Hope Diamond.

.... PBY-5A and He-111 in the same patch :noid

isnt that me youre describing, and the way i fly my B-17?

The B-29 was a staggering success, practically flawless, in comparison to the He177.
The best service the He177 gave to the Luftwaffe was by being such a tempting target for straffing attacks that other, less impressively large but more useful aircraft were spared.
Ack-Ack,
I believe there is one flaw of the He177 that would be modeled in AH, its weak back.
-
perhaps too, karnak and ack ack, overheating would cause engine failure, whether your radiator is intact or not.

over heating isn't modeled, the engine automatically quits when it gets to that point.

how far into the red do you need to get for that to happen? ive tried running full throttle, 100% fuel, 12x500 lbs, no shells fired, at ~10k in a 24...and it still didnt happen.

you need a plane with wep

I would love to see some sort of human engine management beyond the throttle.
A pilot who was better at managing his rpms and manifold pressure was greatly rewarded in real life with higher performance, better mileage, and a more reliable engine.
Much of an airplane's engine reliability history is more related to the actions of the person operating it.
Many planes could easily blow up 15 feet down the runway if not properly managed yet the same planes could fly many missions when proper management was implemented.
That said, making engine management manual here would be a disaster as far as subscriptions though adding a manual mode in addition to the current mode might be interesting..........if we have enough spare keys left to do so.

thats to real i ask for a simple manifold presrue gauge but i was told to real
