Title: Great Fights
Post by: RoGenT on May 02, 2011, 11:13:39 PM
I've had some great fights last couple of days but these really stood out in my mind the most.

Vati6 - Great Turn N Burn Scissors N tea bagging squirrels on the deck pony fight earlier. I really wish one of us recorded it. Big  :salute to not only you, but your squaddie ReddG for staying out so we could finish our fight. I sure wish I knew I was about ready to run out of fuel when I went vertical to try to fight him though lol

Stoney50: Short and brief, but was awesome Pony-B vs. Zeke fight  :salute

Scotty57: Great TnB fight between my P47-40 and your 109; I can't say I have survived that long flying a fat girl on the deck, especially with a 109.  Bummer it ended with us both getting picked  :salute

Allison: Although you and I never actually hit each other, I had a blast avoiding those mighty guns in your Tiffy  :salute

Jenks: I saw, I tried to conquer, and you kicked my butt like I was a new guy! lol  :salute

INK: Although you pretty much creamed me without breaking a sweat when it was your Ki84 and my 47M: It was still alot of fun trying to avoid your guns for those few seconds; I think my mechanic was little mad when I came back home dragging only a wing  lol :salute

TWC: There were at least four of you, and both I and my squadmate, Hong Kong, really enjoyed that 4 Vs 2, I look forward to it again sometime
 :salute

a ki84 should never cream a p47M or any model of the 47.just know how to fly one and you will do good.

ps-I'd love to take you on in any plane vs my D-40

I think you seriously underestimate the Ki-84's power.

Only thing the jug can do that the Ki cannot is fly very fast at 30k and dive to the deck to run or egress.

In any kind of turn fight the Ki will have the upper hand, and it's no slouch in an e-fight either. Co-E, the Ki may not be as fast, but it is more than capable (assuming competent pilot)

I rarely fly in a 47, let alone try to fight a Ki84 that has alt. Now, I'm open to constructive critizism and all, but I knew it was him and that I was going to lose baddly no matter what I was in. I just took it in stride and had fun  :neener:

As for your challenge, I'm sure we will come across each other's path soon enough  :salute

Forgot to add a few fights between Jazzi and myself. Both were fun even though he was picking on my poor TBM in one  :lol :salute

well just like any plane,if he dives on you from your 6,and you have E.just pull up.he will be 1-dead sticked or 2-unable to make the climb due to G's.if he does try to pull up with you then his plane will probably break,or he'l be blacked out.

same thing with most planes, especialy the ki84,holds e very well.

just basic tips i can lay out

Those things are almost never true.  I don't know how you can say they are something you can reliably use.  The Ki-84, or other fighter, doesn't have to be going 500mph to be diving on you.

Sure, but how often does that happen compared with you being at 3k and the Ki, or whatever, being at 5k and diving on you?  Not often, and if it is happening the odds are pretty good that you are facing a newbie.

if they have more e on you,and they are gaining rapidly, what would u do?cut throttle and keep going, stay full throttle and turn away, cut throttle and corkscrew,or just hope hes a terrible shot and misses you all together.from my experience in the jug,i'd say 7/10 times i kill the E fighter.whether it be a p51,38,ki84,or a spit.

Rogent is a pretty good stick.   i'm guessing that he would whoop you up in anything (@thundermouth).   and a co-E co-alt KI84 walks all over any p47 given pilots of the same skill.

try doing things in order next time.......1) get a clue    2) make sure it's a relevant clue.   doesn't count if you just make something up   3) post something intelligent.  if this doesn't work, please refer to step 1, followed by step 2.    :aok

Still you will always be known for being in Manawar's Squad, and so you know - the top 50 doesn't mean squat, I can name at least 3 in top 10 alone in Fighter rank that couldn't fly out of a paper bag without help from a dozen squadies. I don't recall seeing you once in the DA in the past 3 weeks.

Just thought of something, what if we had a dog fighters tournament broken down into 3 Brackets, expert bracket would obviously be the top 12 pilots hand picked by the pilots themselves, 24 pilots would be in a Intermediate bracket (or enough to fill it up) where every tour 2 pilots from the Intermediate go up, and a beginners bracket for anyone not named in the top 2 brackets.

I would be interested to set this up if anyone wanted to take it serious enough.

The ki-84 or "frank" is an excellent plane with a slightly higher learning curve than most. I say that cause of it's compressibility and speed specifications for top performance. Its always about the pilot, never the plane but all things being equal the frank should be able to win a knife fight with a jug. Only because of it's raw climb ability at slower speeds and acceleration. Having said that, the jug is no slouch. It is faster, zooms better and retains e better but most importantly it stops faster. That with it's dive ability can give any plane and any pilot a hard time if worked properly. It's about getting the kill on the first or second gun pass, but that's the game isn't it?

I'm bored at work, just my two cents from my experience.
Title: Re: Great Fights
Post by: Krusty on May 03, 2011, 01:09:48 PM
Its always about the pilot, never the plane

That's never the case.

You can no more separate the aircraft performance from the equation than you can the pilot skill. You should consider both multipliers of the effectiveness of the other. Anything else is a little arrogant (to presume it's all about skill when sometimes... it just isn't) IMO.

A very common misconception. That's why many players go for high K/D at all costs and wonder why their rank doesn't go up ;)

High overall rank mostly means you are an "allround player". Many are very good in their respective areas, but do not care for other aspects of the game. You may be the best dogfighter, but if you never fly boring bombers and do not care about GV's, your overall rank will always be lousy. (Not that it matters anyway ;) )  Fly a single bomber sortie and see you rank # go up by 1000 or more.

Actually I know that Snailguy is avoiding wet paper bags at all costs. He has no squaddies who could help him out, so being trapped in one would in fact be a death sentence to him  :uhoh

:D    depends on the day.   sometimes i don't miss, sometimes i never hit, but on average i maintain a 10-11% hit rate in fighters.   speaking of compression, i have a video from the TA of me in a 40k P47; i dove approx 30k at full throttle and WEP, and was able to pull out of it using the trim, without backing off the sauce.   109s will do this too, just dont pull those wings off :D

a ki84 should never cream a p47M or any model of the 47.just know how to fly one and you will do good.

ps-I'd love to take you on in any plane vs my D-40
Damn, I must be good then. Why did no one let me in on this???? :(

Right, that's it, next time I am going to lose my wing on the first pass Rogent.  :)
j/k, I do like the fights I get in and commonly lose, and someday I will get a shot off against you, which would be the best step towards actually manging to shoot you down I suppose....

This whole k/d thing, which side am I supposed to have more of?

I R t3h l33t, b0w t0 m3, dw33bz.

Ki84 pwns all.. except maybe the spit16 if the spit16 pilot is uber.

I don't mind it was jacked, I find it rather more interesting when people bring out the purses that just happen to be on a thread I made  :aok

spit 5.....spit 8.....I find if the pilot is good they are much harder then the 16.....I would guess though those planes attract the better sticks.

the 47 is a no issue at all if the E states are any where near even...hell ill give the E advantage to the 47 and still think the 84 will eat it alive...unless the stick is a great shot, that beats all.

That's never the case.

You can no more separate the aircraft performance from the equation than you can the pilot skill. You should consider both multipliers of the effectiveness of the other. Anything else is a little arrogant (to presume it's all about skill when sometimes... it just isn't) IMO.

100% agree....but I don't think the outcome of a fight is 50/50 pilot-skill/plane, I would say more along the 70/30  pilot-skill/plane....but initial advantage is more determining then then plane or pilot...and Aiming ability is more of a factor then all the above.

I'm not sure about the spit5.. Ki84 would eat it in hang time. Spit8 though has an identical climb rate and better turn radius than the spit16. 109G2 and maybe the G14 on WEP are worthy.. K4 just can't stick w/ the Ki84s maneuverability though.. unless you're Grizz of course.

ya true...one day in the MA I got into a real good fight with a K4....me being in the 84, this guy in the K4 was really pouring it on, made some great moves, but the K4 just couldn't quite hang with the 84.....when I got the kill..it was a Muppet well known for his K4 flyin... :D

definitely always get the best fights from my squadies :aok

Wasn't it you and I who had that great fight (Yak vs 51) that went from high alt to in the weeds? It ended when I accidently lost half my wing to either a tree or a bush  :rofl

if they have more e on you,and they are gaining rapidly, what would u do?cut throttle and keep going, stay full throttle and turn away, cut throttle and corkscrew,or just hope hes a terrible shot and misses you all together.from my experience in the jug,i'd say 7/10 times i kill the E fighter.whether it be a p51,38,ki84,or a spit.

A smart pilot would maneuver to force the overshoot and reversal on the attacking bandit.  I know when vulching a 2nd account it's hard to do these tricky things called ACM...

ack-ack

I apologize for responding late. A huge  :salute to Rogent, that fight was fun, u threw the fat girl around great, picks happen and i have gotten use to them, picks happen cuz of my bad SA or people who ignore a " stay out " call.  I am by no means a good stick, ask debrody Who smoked me 5 straight, but i will try to fight most of the time unless the odds get outlandish, IMO 3+ vs 1.

I have seen 5+, 10+ vs 1 as well, i should have stated 3v1 before i try to run or hide in ack, which i  will do, but that is my style. :salute
