Title: CH control software for GVing
Post by: Vinkman on May 04, 2011, 02:55:58 PM
I've been playing with this to make my foot pedals and throttle capable of controlling a GV in the new ASWD system, but I'm getting strange results. There is a programable funtion for a slider axis that allowes the user to set it to input a key command when pressed

I set up the rudder as the Turn R & L keys by assigning the rudder axis as a 'Centered' slider control in up/down mode with 'A' and 'D' as in inc and dec keys. It works perfectly.

But I got very different results when I tried to set up the Gas/break pedal using it to input a 'W' & 'S'. The vehicle will not accelerate when the 'W' pedal is activated, but it will deceerate when the 'S' pedal is activated but it requires pumping the pedal to work. The function is supposed to generate a 'depressed and held key' is the step increment is set to 1.

I tried to cet up the throttle as a Centered axis, which the software says is possible, but it acted like a non-centered axis, I could get it to accelerate, but not slow down.

Has anyone with CH controls had a any success trying this?

Since the latest patch, you can assign the Rudder axis to steer a GV. A and D will still work but don't need to be assigned to the rudder axis with the new analog selection available.

I have been wondering about assigning the toe brakes on the pedals so right one acts as W and left as S. Done that way you don't need a "throttle" on the GV. Get scripting!

Vinkman,

I had the same issue with the W and S function not working when mapped through CH Control Manager.  S would work, but W would not.  I had these mapped to a hat switch on my CH throttle, not the pedals, but the end result was the same -- not working.

I then tried changing the W and S keyboard mappings inside of AH to other keys, reconfigured my CH throttle through the Control Manager, and ended up with the same result.  Reverse would work, forward would not.

Wish I had an answer for you, but know it's not just you having this issue.

I never did get the tow brakes to work properly. But I also realized that there's a problem problem that when scripted, commands don't change with AH mode choices. So if I program the pedals to be gas and brakes [which never worked btw], then they'll be 'W' and 'S' commands in the plane. I would have to load a different script outside of AH for plane vs GV.

The rudder control is a welcome change!  :aok

The new rudder is nice but we're still relogated to a hat switch for forward and reverse. Maybe next patch!  :salute

Also just tried Toe Brakes to go up/down gears and that works fine.  I used 1 increment and had w on both inc/dec for right and s on both for left.

So the answer is to remap Aces High map for GV keys to same as aircraft toe brakes (C & V) V in place of W, C in place of S. It means remapping the C and V range dial in the GV as well but that is no big deal

Setting both the INC and DEC to teh same thing was the key.!

Hmmm I'll check the re-mapping option out.  :aok

It now all works for me. I did have some hassle with the aircraft not responding to brakes until I remembered to remove the analog assignment I had for wheel brakes. Now both aircraft and GV's work fine. In the GV map, I removed the A and D for steering and remapped A and D for range Increase and Decrease. The problem is that the gunner is not mapped in the GV map otherwise I would have used W and S But W is already mapped in the gunner!

 :aok

Edit is for some horrible grammar!
