It was an existing model, the hungarian air force used it in '44 summer against the american bombers. I think it would be great couse my ride seems totally inpotent. thank you
-
must be referring to the 109-g6/u4 model...didn't realize any got sent to hungary. :headscratch:
-
ya, but there was a lovely thing called update kits. The older 109s were mostly modernized to the current standards. Our 109s got the tater then later the MW50 in '44, but they were still the old g-6s. Yes, the factory model was called /U4. Either way, it would be nice to have the big gun on the g-6. I heard it was available before.
-
The term "G6" is kind of broad... So many different configurations existed. Simply adding the MW50 made it a G14.
At what point were the 30mm added to your Hungarian G6s? How many (i.e. was it just a handful, or a wide-spread change?).
Depending on the time frame, you may need to fly the G14 we have in-game instead, as that might be more representative of what you had.
-
I dont think we have a hungarian skin for the g14.
-
bf 109 g6/AS was a high alt G6 with a Db605 and Mk108 option. Walter Oesau, Kommodore JG1, was killed in one. dk about G6/AS option in Hungary, will do some more digging
-
Krusty, i "think" there was a continous update process what started in the g-6 and ended up in the standardized g-14. Why shouldnt we get one more step from this?
Otherwise Ardy is right, but still, the g-6 is totally inpotent. Really could use that power-toy, as an option.
Irish, im almost sure we got no AS engines, but pretty sure we got the taters, then later the MW50, and finally the factory g-14s in '44 october.
-
all for adding new 109 models and attachments +1

no krusty, this was an interim model that was designed to take on the heavy bombers before the g14 and k4...i'll have to re-read the technical document i have on it...but i believe it referenced the same high alt performance engine as the g6/as.

Here's one listing on the G-6/U4s produced. It's from Hannu Valtonen's book MESSERSCHMITT BF 109 JA SAKSAN SOTATALOUS.
WNr. 20000-20800---------85 U4s, 06.1943-08.1943
WNr. 440000-442099-----1419 U4s, 09.1943-08.1944
WNr. 510600-510999------130 U4s, 08.1944-10.1944

Hungarian G-14 skin is being worked on as I type. Had to finish a few other projects before I could get started on it.
-
wooooo awsome, Cactus, TYVM!
But even if i fly a g14, the g-6 would be the same useless...
-
how is the g6 useless debrody? come on...it's a great plane between 5k and 15k.

From a preliminary search, the timeline doesn't add up for Mk108 on the G-6 for Hungary. Most of Hungary's G6s were after mid-1944. They had some before then, but small numbers not counting the G-2s and the like.
However, even the Luftwaffe found it hard to get Mk108-armed Bf109G-6s into production until well into 1944. Even then they had a hard time making them enough for Luftwaffe units before they could devote resources to exporting them. That would have taken some time as well.
Our in-game G-6 is the 1943 version. It should not have the Mk108. Nor would it be representative of one if it DID have one. It doesn't look like Hungary got Mk108s until the end of 1944. A late 1944 Bf109G-6 upgraded with field mods is... in all but name... a G-14. The G-14 was the version that combined all the modifications into one package.
The G-14 is what Debrody needs to fly, to match what Hungary had late in the war. Otherwise the G-2 and G-6 are already accurate (for the most part).
(whoops, took a long time to post this, several replies)
Debrody & Gyrene: those posted production numbers are Luftwaffe numbers. Not Hungarian numbers. Read the first post here:

For a translation of some of the Mk108 history on Bf109G6/U4s. The production numbers didn't really kick in until well into 1944. It had many problems to start with, and they took a long time to overcome on the Bf109 airframe.

Krusty, check your pm's...hope you can read german.

Well... me in almost anything else PWNZ me in a g-6. This plane dont have good guns, you have to stay in your opponents six for a long time what writes to your bottom: COME PICK ME. Also this ride cant really turn well, almost everything can PWN it in a turnfight. With an opponent with an about equal skill level, only the ponyes, jugs and 190s are dead meat. But they can (and use to) escape after taking a couple hits, unless i can jump them on the deck. Also in a many vs many situation, this plane epicly fails due to the lack of firepower, turn rate, speed, and dive ability. Theres an option to increase the firepower but it turns this ride to a complete dog what only barely can outturn the jugs. The gondolas are only useful against bombers.
The 30mm option would turn it into a capable dogfighter, and im sure it wouldnt be eny30 anymore. //yes, the k-4 with its 20 eny is the most under eny-ed plane in the set followed by the ki84//
Krusty... if not a tater g-6, then what would representate the mid-44 109s? couse the g14 is late-44. We got g-6s in early-44 and very late '43 and they got the tater in the "American summer", but not yet the mw50.It still wasnt a g-14, didnt had pressurisation, Erla canopy or mw50. Those were fitted in '44 late augus-september, just before the real g14s arrived. Cheers
-
Most of our 109s in game (G-2, G-6, G-14) have the ability to be different variants depending on the loadout you take. Nearly every possible combination of the G-14 changes the variant. Why not add a tater to the G-6 possible variations? Wouldn't do any harm, except to Allied twits.

edit
I should say, of the runs listed, the 20000, 440000, 441000, and 442000 blocks included aircraft in the same configuration as the G-6 we have in game.
-
Debrody,
We really need a Bf109G-6/AS to cover that time period. It would bring both the MK108 and better performance at altitude, something that the Luftwaffe stable badly needs for the bomber offensive settings.

yay, G6 with a boom stick
