Can someone please tell me how to get the white background off of my signature picture (bomber wings). I use Gimp to take the background out of it, but then I upload it to flickr in order to get a bbcode for it, and when I insert it, it has a white background again. I think it is flickr that is doing it, so does anyone know of another program I can use that will not place the background back into the picture? Thanks! :salute

Make sure you are saving it as a .png image file.

In GIMP it's something like Layer> Transparency>Add Alpha Channel or something like that. Erase what you don't want and just make sure you save it as .png or .gif. I use Photobucket, but I think that's just an issue of preference, I'm sure Flikr should be fine.

Thanks all, finally got it to work after signing up with Photobucket (now my preferred photo site). The problem was in fact with Flickr (now my least favorite photo site). Even though I uploaded it as a .png to Flickr, the website automatically converted it to a .jpg because for whatever reason, Flickr does not support .png files. Switch to Photobucket and problem solved! :neener:

i used gifs...pretty much universally accepted and extremely small file sizes....great for avatars, sig files, etc.
