I am not sure this is the place for this, but I would really appreciate any help that you guys could suggest on this. My wife has a degree from Pune University in India, but not much work experience in the United States. She has been trying to get a job ever since she got here in 2008 with very little success. She did have a job in a shipping position, but lost that once they added a requirement to drive a forklift to it.
If any of you know of a company that is looking for a diligent, hard working and very reliable employee for office work, she would be a great fit.
We live in the north Austin area.
Thanks for anything that you can suggest.

Yall live in our playground. :D
I love Austin and the Hill Country. I'm a little nervous driving around the New Braunfels area now as Tupac might fall on our heads. :rofl
Hope someone sees this post and can help.

Dude, check craigslist.

I suggest telling her to take a part time unpaid internship for a few months.

My dad worked up there for a long time Karnak, I'll ask him if he knows of any job openings.

Has she gone to a headhunter? You will have to pay them, but they will help her out from doing an ideal resume to interviews process.

My Mom works for TxDOT in Austin and they always seem to be looking for office employees. Try the city of Austin's web site, TxDOT's website and even UT's website. Just make sure her resume is top notch or they wont give her a second glance.

The company should be the one paying the headhunter. If they're taking money from the candidates then I question their interests.

It works both ways. Some companies will go to the headhunter while others approch them.

Then I'd be skeptical of that firms interests.

Karnak, What type of office work is she looking for? I have a few contacts in the construction business out there and might be able to steer you guys into something. Drop me a PM and we can work via email instead of this BBS.
