Title: Need help testing title art
Post by: Pyro on May 12, 2011, 11:26:02 AM
When we first released version 2.24, we had a number of people who experienced crashes while trying to launch the program.  We traced this to a problem in the new title art and reverted to the old title for the time being.  If you were one of the people who had this problem, I could use your help testing since we none of the machines in our office exhibited this problem.

Just download and install the following file and see if the game runs for you.

http://downloads.hitechcreations.com/AHNEWTITLE.EXE

If it breaks you, you can download and install the following file to get the old title screen back.

http://downloads.hitechcreations.com/AHOLDTITLE.EXE

Please report if you had the problem before and if the new title runs or doesn't run.

Please don't report anything if you didn't have the problem before and the new title works fine for you.

Thanks for you help.

Running Windows 7 here, couldn't run the original 2.24.
This background art loads up fine, and I do say.. It's awfully pretty  :aok

One thing I've noticed since 2.24 (all patches) however, is the background
seems a little bit blurry or out of focus until the game switches into 'full-screen'
mode after selecting an arena to load.

I figured it would have been caused by you guys suddenly reverting to the old
image, however I see it with this one as well.

Looong white screen when I first loaded it, but it did come up and I was able to get into the arenas fine.

After that, no long white screen, game pops right up.

Worked for me.  :aok

I had the "program exit" problem before on both Snow Leopard Bootcamp running Windows7 and a Windows7 Parallels VM. I initially fixed the issue by re-saving ahlogo.jpg in GIMP.

The new patch WORKS on both instances of AH that I have. Nice work!

I noticed this as well, but thought it was my laptop having a hiccup
as it does from day to day.

tried out the new graphic...long white screen before the graphic loads on the first game startup after install, every startup after that is fine. works.

I'm curious how a graphic (just the graphic) can cause a crash... It's an 8-bit BMP right? Why would AH have a problem displaying a group of pixels called "A" versus a flawless display of a group called "B"?

I don't get it. Isn't it plug and play? Hot swappable?

I have a Dell XPS 400 running XP Pro.
This loaded up no problems, no waiting.
Love the title screen shot.

I'll keep it the way it is.

My compliments to CactusCooler for the screenshot. Even though its not a P-38 (just kidding) its beautifully done.

Hats off to you.  :aok
