Title: I dont want to grow up
Post by: Tupac on May 14, 2011, 05:00:48 PM
Junior in high school now, just 2 more years. A lot of my good friends graduated this year, and are off to college/etc.

I don't want to grow up. The more I think about it, the more terrifying it is. I wish life had a do-over button.

The more I think about it, the more unsettling it is.

Actually the rule is you MUST grow old.  Nothing in there about growing up.  I mean seriously if we all grew up you would only have squeekers to fly against going "Piu! Piu! Piu!".

My last day of school was Friday, I don't go back until Graduation on the 21st.  I think your opinion will change, especially as you get nearer to the end and you see all of the exciting things waiting for you in college.  So much to learn and experience, new people to meet, just a lot of interesting things to come.  Leaving your friends is sad, but the advantage to being in the 21st century is facebook, skype, etc.  Plus it's not like you can't drive/fly to meet each other whenever practical.

While going through it, I thought college was tough.  Now I remember them as the good old days.

You can't have people support you all the time. Life is not just fun & games.

Just for the record, I'm happy where I am and I'm not looking back. When I was in high school I though life was good, now I realize that it sucked (compared to what it is now).

High School is a piece of the big easy. Its college that I fear.

Once that dreaded thing called ..... "work" comes into our young lives.... it is going to suck, blow and swallow more than Paris Hilton on a Friday night with a camera close by.

so in keeping with this discussion

I breezed through high school.  You will have more homework in the first two weeks of college than the whole 3 years of high school.  During the early part of my second year of college, I had my high school prom date die in a car wreck, and my best childhood friend fall and die in a construction accident. Thats when I learned about about hard knocks of life.

Kid-high school, being told what to do 24-7...I miss the fun I had in college but thats about it....

geez some of you guys must have had sad sack lives in high school...i had a blast, although if i could be any age again i'd choose 23...that was the perfect age to be for anything/anyone i wanted to do.  :D

getting older isn't necessarily "growing up"...just look around at some of the stuff posted in the forums by "grown ups", you know what i mean. i'm almost 50 and remembering how fast the last 30 years went by, it's a bit scary to look at the next 20 but since there isn't anything i can do about it, i'm going to enjoy as much of it as i can.

I graduate on the 7th... im done on the 27th though... I know what you mean. Enjoy your last years. I remember being a freshman and was like... i wish i can just do freshman and Senior years only... And i tell you know, thats exactly what it feels like happened. Time went by so fast!

Im lucky though my school has what is called duel enrollment so i was able to take college classes seperately from HS. I was able to do all my ground school for flying through this without paying a dime. Im taking classes this summer so when i enter next semester, i will be entering as a sophmore in college (second year at CC). After next year, then im planning on going to a 4yr to finish towards my bachelors then possibly the US navy to be a pilot.

So in the end...

Enjoy, it while you can. Dont fret over the drama and little stuff. Im always looking back and wishing i could revist 14-16 years old again, but i cant (yet)... At the same time, im looking forward to my future and being able to do stuff i previously could never do.

No offense, but live in the now. Junior year in high school and having regrets already? Don't waste your time.

I'm on my second wife and my third career and I do not dwell on the "what ifs."

You have a decade or two of wide open adventure in front of you. Get out there. Be bold. Be sane. Have fun.
