Half the time when I tabout or windows key, AH blinks off, then right back on, and my AH cursor and keyboard is froze, and my regular computer cursor is on the screen. Now its getting worse cuz I used to be able to cntrl/alt/del and start task manager and end AH process, now I do it and AH comes right back on before I can click Task Manager and the only way I can escape is power off.
I dont know how to do a DX diag, but I have .75 terabyte harddrive with no other programs on it (pure AH computer) and 6 gig RAM, onboard Nvidia 6150 graphics , runs 59 frames with bump map terrain ( except when flying near smoke/fire). help?

Steele, I have the EXACT same problem.
When it does this you just have to click AH in the taskbar before it goes back into the game, if you do that it will put you back in the game no problems. It takes some time to get it down, but it works. I only have to do this once, all the other times that I go in and out after I have started it up nothing happens.
So try to do it before you up a plane and get it over with in case your computer does crash.
-
Same here. Plus when i try to come back after a tabout, my game use to crash, especially when i fly perked planes :lol
-
Guys, check to see if you have EAX enabled on your soundcard. There are lots of crashes in numerous games because of it, and I found that I had it enabled on my card (Asus Xonar D1). After disabling it, I've crashed once after alt-tabbing several dozen times.
-
If i understand this right I think we may have the same problem. Sometimes when I alt tab I see the desktop for a sec then I get put back in game with no way to move the mouse or use the game. I then hit the windows key + TAB and then I can use the game and try to alt tab again hopefully it will work that time.
-
What ever it is, it has been happening ever since AH switched to the windowed start up mode. I think it has something to do with that.

-
Happens to me alot, I will wait till I'm in tower before I alt tab out.
Sometimes I'll hit the windows key instead of z lol, Im gonna pry that key off soon

Yes! that's the exact same thing. Only mine has gotten to where I hit Cntrl/alt/delete and I cant even start task manager because it only shows up for 1 sec. I will try the windows + tab thing, I didnt know about that one before, just tried hitting alt tab or windows repeatedly. :salute

glad I could help

Has been starting with me since this last patch
-
I have a similiar problem but heres what I get.
BTW, this is new since the last patch. Never ever happened before that.
Usually on my first sortie of the game. Whether in a tank or a plane, doesnt matter, My screen freezes for about 5 seconds. Sound continues. Can't do anything to get out of the freeze. Then it comes back, I can alt tab, or just stay in the game. If I stay in the game though, my video goes all wierd, like I can't see the world map, like there holes in everything, some trees show up, but I can see through mountains, and the ground is basically empty space. I turn my video settings to everything off. Then the world comes back looking like playdo. Then I readjust my video setting turning bumpmap on, and detailed water, and detailed ground. I never use shadows. Then the game continues on and I never have the problem again. I say that it usually happens my first sortie, but sometimes its the second. It ALWAS Happens though.
Heres my DXDIAG
