Despite driving safely normally I do slip up, and it's only a matter of time before everyone's luck gets pushed too far. Just remember to drive safely out there, even if you think you know what you're doing.
Had my slip-up yesterday, had to choose between killing myself and another driver or risk just myself, I decided myself was best. Wouldn't be able to live with myself if I had hit someone and caused death. Older cars are built very nicely though, despite rolling at ~40mph it held up well. Ended up fishtailing around a truck when I came around a corner (I lost control around the turn) and got it sideways and flipping it on it's roof.

Aside from the Driver's Window and the windshield all the glass was fine. The Window was fine til I had to get out and the doors were locked. Would think I was escaping a fire as fast as I got myself out of there. :)
Luckily there were no serious injuries and no other persons were involved, but it could have gone much worse if that truck wasn't alone. Just remember to drive safely out there guys (and gals), we lose enough AHers already. :salute

Pay attention, children, because this is why we don't have sheep any more.

:salute My wallet hurts, and I don't even drive
EDIT: I'm glad you made it, sir; how thoughtless of me to make a joke about something that could have killed you and not convey my relief due to your survival

Sheesh, glad you're okay man!

I'm just happy you walked away dude.

glad you got out ok......i would presume you were wearing your seatbelt.........
-
Thanks guys, but I can say...life does not flash before your eyes in a life/death situation, your mind goes blank.

Always wear it, never understood why some don't. Made getting out a pain but it kept me from ending up in another part of the car. :)
Slightly annoying though that I've been carrying a little Seatbelt cutter/glass breaker for months now in case of a wreck and I couldn't even find it when I needed it, thing went flying somewhere.

years ago, i rolled my girlfriends car.....or rather the punk that hit us rolled it for me.....seatbelts did their job. i like a true dork, fell on my head when i unbuckled.
again........it is good to know that you got out fine. the car can be replaced.
-
VERY happy you escaped with little injury. Hate to say it but I have seen fatals with the same damage/situation. Feel LUCKY!
Everything else can be replaced--you can't.
Welcome to "Second Chance". Someone up there believed you should get one. If he didn't--we'd all be flying a "Memorial Flight" for you next weekend. :pray

Older car?
I rolled a '74 T-Bird once, right back onto the wheels.
Scuffed up the vinyl top a bit, engine was still running so I drove it home... :D
Glad you are safe :aok
Welcome to the club.

I've been driving my parents cars, tomorrow i finally buy my own...a 97' Camaro. Seeing and hearing about things like these really keep me on edge while driving out there.
Glad to hear your okay, keep it that way sir! :salute

Turning at 40 mph is not a good idea. :)
Glad your ok.

Have you thought about it's replacement?
Maybe something that makes all those cool roads even more fun?

Family friend who's a fire chief says any one of those that doesn't come with a mount so you can attach it somewhere (and it stays put) was designed by someone who never had to use it.
Glad you're OK and that you didn't hit anyone else. One thing you can learn quickly in LA from watching idiots lead by example; there is never any rush to get anywhere. And anyone who says they've done court-mandated highway community service (or is a DOT worker) and to this day still drives over 10-15 mph above posted speed limits has obviously never actually done it or only had to go for one day and got lucky it was an easy and uneventful day at that.

Wasn't my plan to be going that fast. :)
Foot slipped and hit gas, mind blanked when I slid into the wrong lane.
Thanks though guys, with any luck a memorial flight is a ways off Rox.

I'm glad you're okay, bud. We had prom last Saturday and I haven't heard anything about any wrecks. Thank God it was another Prom we didn't end up having a candle-light vigil because of.
Drive safe, everyone. A great message from 1701E.

bolded.....i dunno how i missed this statement before.
for me, it all went into slow motion.
the punk clipped my d/s rear quarter panel. the car entered a skid, back end going right....hit the curb, back end bounced off the curb, whipping around to the left.
hit the curb a second time, going backwards, launched, landed on the drivers side door, and slid for a bit, then rolled onto the roof.
for the entire time, i was trying to steer out of it.....even when the car was on its side, and all i could see out of the window was dirt n grass...i was steering the car....
it felt like it took forever, whereas in all actuality, it took mere seconds. then i fell on my head as mentioned in my other post.

I always look back to close calls I had in a car, I've always been lucky to come out of them as unscathed as I have, knock on wood. They go by in a flash and are real adrenaline pumpers, you're reacting quickly and instinctively, so I have no doubt you were still attempting to or effectively steering your car even though all you saw in your window was grass and dirt. Then usually it ends with a big cloud of dust or smoke from rubber lingering around you like a fog for what seems like minutes when in reality it was probabley gone with the wind in less than 10 seconds.
PS - FYI CAP, my '97 Civic and it's head gasket were KIAed attempting to get to the Planes of Fame airshow this saturday. :( At least it died honorabley.
