-
no it won't run on any nix distros...windows only
-
I've heard of some people getting it to work using WINE (Windows Emulator software) but it's not a simple matter of "plug and play"

I'd still like to get Ubuntu off of this PC. I put it on there myself, in a need of desparation.(<<--OEM Vista-No Disk) I realise now that that was quite foolish.
If it works for you though, that's cool. For me, I have no use for it.
Vista :old:
PS. <Just want to see if I can say assblaster hot sauce.>
It's your world. I just fly in it.

Older AH versions did work using wine but afaik the later versions changed something in graphics handling that messes it up.
-
A few years ago I ran it with wine but it was slow and the controls were not very good, I have not tried it since!
It is still on my linux puter and will play offline I think since it was never updated, I have never checked!

I still fly old AH2 version 2.12.4 on PcLinuxOS for offline practice and mission development. It works great. I published DETAILED instructions for this setup here:
http://www.askmisterwizard.com/LINUX/PcLinuxOs2008Minime/SwitchingToPcLinuxOs2008Page01Full.htm
I tried to put a later version of Aces High into this setup but it failed. I didn't work on it very hard, and I can't say whether or not the current versions will work. I use Windoze XP when I use current versions of Aces High.
