been reading some local news on the web and found a story...well, ok the actual story is not funny in the least so i won't post the full thing but, the way the story was posted is just...demonstrative of how stupid news writers can be... :rofl
The boy's mother, whom 12 News is not identifying, explained what she thinks went wrong.
further down in the story...
Wendy said her son is just like any other 12-year-old;
:huh :headscratch: alright so the news station won't give any details about the woman's identity but...the reporter sure will!!!
and now...for the :headscratch:
She said he found her 38 mm gun she keeps for protection.
that's not a gun, it's a cannon!!! how would you hide something that big in the house???
p.s. nobody got hurt in the story...the young boy is fine.

There are so many mistakes on radio/tv station "news" web sites that it's not even funny.
Hearst USED to be one that took huge pride in accuracy....at least it did when I worked for them.

Back to the OP.
I think the problem with online news is there are no editors. It seems to just be written, spell checked, and posted. Grammar and syntax are off all the time.
The worst articles, however, are the ones that just don't tell you anything. You actually need to find the story somewhere else if you are really interested.

I have noticed local and major newspapers all over the country have a big problem with spelling mistakes. we drove last year from california to dallas and back and we had fun reading the newspaper and finding all the simple grammar/spelling errors.
