Yeah, I'm always skeptical of console flight sims. I'd probably rent it first.
EDIT: I'd definately give it a go if I could plug my X52 into the Xbox.

Ahhhhhh if only to have those graphics on here :O

Awesome :rock

Why don't we? is it a better graphics engine, sorry if its a dumb question, nor is it a slam at AH I'm just not very graphic engine savvy

I could be wrong but its my understanding that its a combination of substance (accurate flight modeling) and being able to run on the widest variety of computer systems. If the game had super uber graphics it would limit the amount of potential customers who could play to higher end machines only.
As it stands now the min requirements are
Minimum Requirements
CPU/Processor: 1.8 Ghz
OS: Win 2K/XP/Vista/Wn7
Memory: 512 MB
Video Card: DirectX 9.0 64MB
So you dont have to have uber machine to play. Just not a complete Dinosaur

Neat!
I see Thrustmaster has a decent HOTAS setup for the xbox. I have a ps3 as well, but it seems that there is a bigger community out there online on Xbox's.

That stick is for PS3/Windows. The only flight stick I know of that works on the 360 is one that was sold with that Ace Combat game a few years ago.
EDIT: Just looked it up, it's just a refashioned Saitek X45. I guess that's not necessarily a bad thing though. It's very expensive however, more expensive than a brand new X52 Pro.

Aye, I actually like the rocker-rudder on the X45 better than the twisties. I flew for years with the X45....
-
I'm hoping it isn't like Il-2 Birds of Prey. Came out on the Xbox360, I was really excited for it too, but the gameplay/ controls were so freaking cumbersome it ruined it for me. We've been spoiled by AH, I've learned that it can sometimes get REALLY bad when it comes to flight sims. The only game I've ever sold back.
-
well, if you can find one of these, it's supposed to work with the 360...probably the only thing keeping it on the market, and it's not cheap

Odd the planes look like they were being flown by push button. Note how they rock nose up then down.

you mean using the <gasp> wsad keys?

Yes I did notice the flight model appeared "off". Reminded me of some flight sims back in the day that only consisted of two axis points, horizontal and vertical. My early impressions for the game title are: :rock :O :x  for eye candy and :uhoh  :( :frown: :headscratch: for flight model.

That is what I was seeing. Think you said it a bit better.

This game is from the same developer that made Birds of Prey for the consoles and PC port of that game Wings of Prey. Both games were an arcade flight sim smothered with eye candy. It looked pretty but like was nothing more than a hollow shell of a flight sim, even in "realistic" mode. The flight model in Birds of Steel isn't any different than the flight models found in their previous two games.
Even in "realistic" mode, the flight model will no way compare to that of AH or even IL2. The serious flight simmer is not the intended target for this game.
ack-ack

I agree.
-
If it has a decent view system, it could be worthwhile. If not, it's pointless...
-
And we complain about the squeakers in AH when school lets out. :huh I can just imagine this GAME in Muti/MMO :uhoh
