Yes wreckage, crashed airplanes littering the field, blown apart tanks all around a town or base! at least as long as the craters last! the craters don't seem to have an effect on anything other than cosmetic value, could we have wreckage do the same thing?
I see wreckage falling from the sky after a plane goes down, and tank turrets spinning in the air after the kill is registered so I am guessing there must be a time allotted to this action? :noid

Wouldn't having the wreckage of all the tanks and aircraft hang out on the battlefield of X amount of time also tax the servers and pc's that much more?
-
two things to say to this:
OP: there sorta is already wreckage when a plane is shot down. only when you shoot off a piece of the airplane, though. when it explodes, theres a few pieces of flaming something that flies away from the big explosion.
2: Wouldn't having the wreckage of all the tanks and aircraft hang out on the battlefield of X amount of time also tax the servers and pc's that much more?
maybe an option to turn that off? or at least turn it down, like the viewing of ground scenery, from .5 to 4?

Wreckage could be something that is not kept track of on the server side to save resources. If you just show up to a fight that's been going on for a while you wouldn't see any of the battle effects you weren't near enough to witness happen.
<-- Not a game designer/programmer, but if one asked me how to do it that'd be my guess.

I don't know,, if they are like bomb craters, then I would guess not but I don't know, however if it is possible, it would be nice to have,, not wanting to slow the game down tho,, just more eye candy!

Yeah, or if not wreckages at least flaming engines and parts flying around from planes that smash to the ground at oblique angles and from planes that blow in the air...

like I said,, not if it hurts the game, but for a short time say 10 minutes or something heck yes, as long as it doesn't hurt the ability to play!

The problem is, displaying more stuff=more work for the computer. No way around it.
That plus in some vulch scenarios you wouldn't be able to see the runway because of wreckage... I'm going to go with -1.

I have driven a GV through a crater. The craters don't seem to do anything more than make marks in the ground.

re-read the wish. He is asking if it would be possible for the wreckage to remain on the ground for a little while just like bomb craters do.

It'll make too much of a mess and kill the frame rate the way some of you base taking horde guys throw your pixel lives away...
In 5 mins an airbase will look like a junk yard

Great Idea, but PLEASE, nothing else added that will cause my 10 yr old computers already strained Graphics card to keep me from playing AH lol. And I know im gonna hear "buy a new computer or GC then" but I am very tight on cash lol. :ahand
-
but then you hear "go and get some money" instead. its a never-ending circle, you see? :P
-
+1 but to assuage the rest it should be on ur pc only not for the server to do that way u only see wreckage u witnessed when ur killed the battlefield resets keeps from killing other players view and gves more immersion to the player. also an option to turn it off in graphics should be an advanced option not a default

maybe to create the ruble of the parts of the plane like if in AX VS. AL if a british shoots down a ju88 now thay can make something out of it
;)

so when a 50 vs 50 furball happens then what? speaking of which, anyone wondering what would happen if a GV's cover just went poof?

Aces High is the least demanding game on my computer, and its almost 3 yrs old with a DDR3 GFX card. Its not like we're playing Crysis 2 here guys.

i've got a gateway... case closed...

i still say +1, if your able to have thick forest of trees in the game your PC is more than capable of seeing temporary wrecks on the battlefield. I don't think people really understand the concepts here. frame rate wont drop as much as you may think or perhaps not at all. Theres no "junkyards" if wrecks disappear and its not like its gonna be all over the spawns and bases. Not to mention if you have people spawn camping and people continuously up, there wrecks act as decoys of somewhat potential.

There are sliders for corpses in many other games, why not AH?

Sucks for you, why should I suffer for you?
This is the computer I bought, added a 9500GT for $40:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330531115188&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
Runs AHII at 75+FPS with everything on.

If your so tight on cash why are you paying for a game? That's like saying I am so broke, but I am going to go out and buy cigarettes and booz.

Consider this. You're a tanker and have wreckage tuned on. There's a Panzer hulk between you and some enemies so you sneak in behind it to camoflauge yourself. I'm one of the enemies. I have wreckage turned off and what I see is you sitting in the open.
There's no doubt it would affect frame rate just as skid marks do on the track in a racing game but here even the lowest end computer will be forced to run these extra textures just to keep things even and they'd have to be there for everyone, whether you witnessed it or not.
