Title: CV misplaced on recorded films
Post by: Rob52240 on May 27, 2011, 05:43:10 AM
Sometimes while viewing an aces high film file, the aircraft carrier can be several thousand feet away from where it's supposed to be.  I also notice that the text buffer reads in purple text 'Packet Ignored'.

Anyone know what's going on here?

I've noticed it when a hard turn has been performed by the cv group.

I have a film of a landing on the rear of the cruiser and a dead stick takeoff (engine started at 50 feet) a couple minutes later but the ship disappeared or moved from under me long before the takeoff was performed.

sucks...it was a great film.

Was trying to make a torpedo training film offline for the 1st running of Coral Sea many years ago. I hit near the bow. The film showed the explosions while the torpedo wake was 1000FT behind the CV and continued on. Always been hinky AFAIK.

It's due to lag, as the CV positions are updated through packets from the game server.

I don't think I had a few minutes worth of lag as I watched the ship perform a sharp turn from under my plane causing my plane to sit levitated on an invisible deck.

Something is definitely not right with the way the film recorder maps the task groups.  I've recorded CV missions where everyone is lined up at deck level a half mile behind the Carrier.
