Background
***********
To make the first Buna Allied offensive in the Pacific more effective, the Americans readied a separate attack from a different direction. That decision brought American forces into the Solomon Islands and U.S. Army infantry onto the island of Guadalcanal.
Amphibian tractors, Guadalcanal
On the morning of August 7th, 1942, the First Marine Division followed heavy naval preparatory shelling, and landed on the north beaches east of the Tenaru River. In a three-month struggle marked by disease (diarrhea, malaria, dysentery, skin fungus), and many casualties, the marines took an airfield and established a beachhead roughly six miles wide and three miles deep.
During the last weeks of 1942 and the first weeks of 1943, the Americans strengthened their foothold on Guadalcanal by reorganizing and bringing in fresh troops, the Second Marine Division and the 25th Infantry Division. The Japanese held off five American battalions for a month, which delayed the advance west long enough for the defenders to evacuate 13,000 men from the island. Allied forces quickly constructed landing strips — the first series of island hopping had begun. Thats where our SEC 26 starts!

F4U-1A ? :headscratch:
The Chance Vought F4U-1A Corsair. VF-17, "Jolly Rogers", U.S. Navy, Munda, New Georgia, Solomon Islands. This plane was used from 1943 to 1944.
F4U-1A (Corsair Mk II): The designation F4U-1A does not appear in lists of Corsair Bureau Numbers and was not in official use, being applied post-war to differentiate mid to late production F4U-1s from the early production variant
search for Jolly Rogers VF-17
maybe we will bring it in frame 2 or 3, its a bit in between, maybe i will be limited like we did limit the 190A5 in the last SEC 26

All my sources (Books and Inet) clearly named the Corsairs at the Solomon Battles:
VMF-124 was formed September 7, 1942 at Camp Kearney. In late October they got some of the first F4U Vought Corsair fighters to roll off the assembly line, making them first squadron to receive the new plane. (See One Man´s Journey by Robert M. Berg.)
The squadron left San Diego on January 8, 1943 on the USS Lurline and arrived at Guadalcanal on February 12, 1943. That afternoon they flew their first combat mission, logging 9 hours in the air. VMF-124 remained in the Solomons until September 7, 1943, participating in the Russells, New Georgia, and Vella Lavella operations.
VMF-124 was formed on September 2, 1942 at Camp Kearney, San Diego, California. They were declared fully operational on December 28, 1942 even though the squadron’s pilots had only an average of 25 hours each in the plane. They arrived on Guadalcanal on the morning of February 12, 1943 led by their commanding officer, Major William Gise. The squadron flew their first mission before lunch that day, with twelve F4Us escorting a PBY Catalina on a 230 mile mission to pick up two downed pilots at Sandfly Bay, Vella Lavella.
The first F4U pilot to be decorated with the Medal of Honor came from VMF-124 — 1st Lt Kenneth A. Walsh for a mission on August 30, 1943, during which he shot down four Japanese Zeros before ditching his borrowed Corsair. The squadron remained in the Solomon Islands until September 1943, fighting over the Russell Islands, New Georgia and Vella Levella.
some nice VF 17 background

The development from the F4u-1 to the 1A was an ongoing process, so we bring the 1A in frame 3 which reflect the late 43 situation
we will play the SEC 27 frames in these steps:

well, on the other hand we don't have all japanese planes avaible in AH which were in duty back in 1943, so its a question of balance. If you would place the f6f in it would be a bit out of balance!
If we would allways try to play the scenarios like history was, axis would be outnumbered up to 10:1, and allied players would lose intrest because of lack of targets. In this case here it is pretty much the same with this SEC

Gents,
unclkurt will run his first SEC all on his own. Pilots, give him a good welcome and have a good time!
Salute!
