Title: Are there maps of field layouts for karelia airfields?
Post by: slayem on June 04, 2011, 10:14:15 AM
Loved the map and frame but had difficulty locating hangars. Are there maps of field layouts available?
Also, are the reventments live targets?

Im not aware of any maps.

Had a look at the "Fighter Entry Points" on the Karelia terrain. They have a hardness of .3125 same as a barracks or buildings. It would appear those are the "revetments" and they look like they can be bombed since they are coded like any other targetable structure.

OP,

It appears as if Karelia uses several different custom objects/groups to depict airfields...

I was intrigued by your original post and did some sleuthing in the Mission Editor...

Not only are fields rotated frequently (or so it appears as much), the layout of types within a type group varies as well.

That is to say that its possible/probable  Large Field X is not the same as Large Field Y irrespective of rotation

Creating canned generic field layout maps in the classic sense appears as if its moot.

As an example here are 3 Large Fields as viewed offline in Gods Eye mode (perspective North)...all different

Notice the subtle and not so subtle differences...aside from rotational considerations...

I like it...forces folks to do intelligence on targets ahead of an attack...
