I wake up this day expecting D day videos to be on, whats on? American Pickers.....? Really? I swear in the last 10 years its not even History channel anymore...

Rewrite history, or ignore it. Who won the war ultimately?

While I do think American Pickers is one of the few reality shows on the history channel that actually has a great deal to do with history, I also agree that it's odd to have them playing on D-Day...
-
Didn't they just put out a new documentary on Gettysburg just recently?
Haven't seen it yet, but the previews looked interesting...

Yes, I watched it and found it interesting.

I pitched "Hot...Dog...Vendors" to history/discovery about bikini clad girls vending hot dogs but have not heard back as of yet.
-
So this is kinda funny, but now Discovery channel is doing D-Day films, but history is still doing american pickers?

What I got from this is...
"I can't pay respect so I am going to whine that someone else needs to do it for me :cry"
I am sure there is something in the line up for today involving D-Day, but they are not going to dedicate an entire day to it.

Nope... American Pickers until 7pm CST, then an hour of Pawn Stars, then more American Pickers... It is pretty much the normal History Channel Monday night lineup. Nothing about DDay in their schedule at all today according to my digital cable guide.

Yesterday they had a special on D-day, it was done very well. "Surviving D-day" is what I think it was called. :salute

That was on the Discovery Channel, not History Channel.

The History Channel has to get money from somewhere, and if that's reality TV, then ugh, so be it.

I am all over that hot dog, bikini idea. Seriously, who runs the programming at that dang station?!?!
Boo

The so called history channel is too busy making money from folks who have no interest in history to worry about history.
They have lowered the IQ requirement for viewing to get more viewers.

Just as the SciFi channel has also. SciFi went from having some unique, well written shows, to carrying Wrestling and an annoying food show. I used to watch SciFi channel programming at least a couple nights per week. Now I watch nothing on SciFi. Will watch Eureka when its new season starts though.
The USA network is the only one I can think of that is running some shows worth watching, like Burn Notice, White Collar, and In Plain Sight.

I've been boycotting them since they launched the American version of Top Gear and tried passing it off as worthy of it's name.

They did the same thing last year, only it was with Ice Road Truckers.

Had a 2 hour show on Canadians landing on Juno followed by Tank Battles (again Canadians) on History Channel last night.

Apparently there are variations in programming depending on your locale. Here, it was American Pickers and Pawn Stars.

My favorite Discovery Channel related quote:
You and I, we are nothing but mammals, let's do it like they do it on Discovery Channel!
:D

It wont be long and the history channel will have an hour special about how aliens helped the Germans bomb Pearl Harbor and the Japanese were in secret alliance with the Italians :bolt: to build a giant death ray to wipe out Switzerland.

If it's your favorite, why can't you get it right? ;)

Sci-fi would be smart to pick up Firefly and allow the series to finish the character arcs.
After Battlestar Galactica wrapped, Sci-Fi has lost the course.

Sci-Fi has the rights to air the existing Firefly episodes, I think. I know they do show Serenity on occaision. As for new episodes of Firefly... Not likely to happen as long as Nathan Fillion is having some amount of success with Castle. Firefly wouldn't be Firefly wihtout Nathan Fillion after all.

I would prefer that over some of the crap they air.

I just wanted to see how it sounded if it were grammatically correct, here is the original:
You and me, we ain't nothin' but mammals, let's do it like they do it on Discovery Channel!

Wrong, but I love your thinking!
"You and me baby ain't nothin' but mammals so lets do it like they do on the discovery channel"

Curses, foiled again!

BBC America and Comedy Central are the only channels worth watching.
Luckily they're 189 and 190 respectively on Verizon FiOS cable.
