Title: SdKfz 251 Troops and Supplies
Post by: SmokinLoon on June 08, 2011, 02:10:55 PM
I'd like to see the SdKfz 251 with an option to carry 5 troops and 1 gv supply box.

It would mix things up and offer something we do not have now.  The 5 troops are not enough to capture a field, but enough to back up other troops carrying 251's or M3's AND lend supplies to a damaged or guns dry gv.

Since your logic in regards to base taking includes two people to do this with a 251. Would it just not be better for one with sups & the other with 10 troops?

consider the words "optional" & "loadout" lyric...might help understand the logic  :lol

Mixing it up can't be a bad thing!

Sure!!!

You are not really THAT simple minded, are you?   ;)

Part of the logic is not having all your eggs in one basket.  Part of the logic is having a multi-purpose and multi-use vehicle.  Part of the logic is mimicing the real deal, just how often did troops arrive on scene and jump out of their carriers with ammo crates, fuel cans, food rations, etc, deliver the goods and then hop into the nearest trench or foxhole and engage the enemy?  I think it would add an aspect that would currently do not have and one that is not just too far off from the real deal.

As far as optional load outs are concerned Yeah I am all for it. :aok May be a more practical situation in Scenarios than main arena though.

Either way, it would still require two of them to capture a field and resupply friendlies.

Point taken.  But capturing a field with that load out isn't the goal.  Being a back up is.

loon, have to think like a =v=whatever...in case the base rolling horde fails, saturate the area with troops.

That's right, if you fail with one M3, Bring 20 the next time.  <S>

I'd like to think of myself a bit above the vthought process.   ;)

You want to be a backup, take a Jeep.

No need for mixed loads of supplies and troops, IMO.

Well I on the other hand think its a good idea.  A jeep only serves as a backup for one thing, not both as this would.  So you can't say "just take a jeep", this idea is different than a jeep.

On another note, I can't understand posts like yours on the Wishlist forum.  They happen far too frequently.  In no way would another optional loadout hurt your gameplay experience, so there's absolutely no reason to come on here and slam a good idea.

mixed loads are accurate krusty...or should things just be conveniently historical?

I'm saying the troop transport role in this game is to capture towns. In that role you don't mix it with "supply other GVs" or what-have-you. From a gameplay standpoint, if you're running goons that should be it. We're already blurring this line since you can load troops AND the rockets on the sides, but so be it.

IMO if you have troops you shouldn't be screwing around doing other things. You've made your mind up what you are going to do, you know what you have to do. So from a gameplay standpoint (how they are used in this game, how they work) I think muddying the waters does nothing to help, and possibly only leaves open the way to game the game or find hidden exploits.

Sounds like a good idea to me so long as the supps can't be used to replenish the 5 troops for the sdkf like they are used now to double the rocket load for the same vehicle.  It would make the sdkf too uber if it could use its own GV supps to repair/replenish itself and take a town on its own.  Then again this might not even be possible. Has anyone tried to replenish the troops in a halftrack using GV supps?
