Brings back memories from 2000 when 1 out of every 2 planes was a C-Hog.

I will 1vs1 with you in any plane in the set.  We can do same planes, or any combo that might be interesting.

But I get what you are saying about the DA.

Personally, I never go into the DA "looking" for a 1vs1...  I go to the MA and look for a real pilot (not the DA Furball Lake dweebs), then go into the DA for some good dueling fun.

I like to fly the Yak in there. The short clip isn't a problem because the Gang gets me before I run out, but the Yak is small and hard to hit so I can work on my SA and "jinx" while popping the odd overshoot.

DA is a good place to learn only if you hit into right people. Look into TA instead, have a trainer assess your skills, then go from there.

Whats your in game name?

TA is the best place to get started. Learn the basics there, take offs, landings, basic flight maneuvers (Lessons by a trainer this Saturday 6-11 SEE THIS THREAD (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,314654.0.html)), even some advance air combat maneuvers. The trainers will work with you as much as you want.

DA is good when you hook up with guys you get to know and who have been around awhile, and who are better than you. The 1 vs 1 time can be some very intenst learning time and accelerates your learning due to the fights being closer together with the other guy more often than not telling you what you did wrong and how to "fix" it.

Main arenas are for fun and to try and put into practice all that you've learned. The situations won't all be as cut and dried as the training ones, but the more you practice the better you get.

Good Luck !

once you learn basic manevuers 1v1 is a great way to get better.then do 2v1 and 3v1s.really helps prepare for the MA where anything can happen

That arrogance will get ya killed one day. If you think everyone at the lake is in a chog or a temp you are mistaken. There are 3 pilots that regularly take a temp that I can think of. Once in awhile a random pilot may take one up. There are a few more chogs but compared to spit16s not many. If you arent enjoying the lake, you arent surviving the lake. If you can make it there, you can make it anywhere. Its up to you..New..ahh..sorry.

Not sure which Shade you are asking to the DA arena, but in the last month I've been flying in the DA arena I have not had one person fly a tempest unless the plane set was asked for to begin with, in which not one person has asked a "chog or tempest".

I would suggest flying the MA for a while until you understand whose a decent stick then ask them politely to the DA to learn a few things.
If you ask someone and they take up a Tempest when you politely ask for a Ki-61 then its time to find someone over the age of 12.

Doesn't matter which plane set is chosen whether its a C-hog or D3a, a decent stick is going to school you left and right, learn from the mistakes and after a while you learn it doesn't matter how many times you lose, you learn to train those who you beat and repeat the cycle.

/Not sure who you are in the DA, but I am sure I haven't seen you in there, and I know I haven't ask for no tempest, maybe you don't like P-40s:)

vREBEL (or anyone else) if you see me in the DA I'm always up for a 1 vs. 1. in any plane. I usually fly evenings until around 10:00pm, also early morning weekends.

The DA is mostly perk rides in F-3 mode spraying the sky with cannon. I would fly in the DA if the perk planes and F-3 was gone.

On a private field not the lake.  Find someone that knows what their doing and wants to help you, not just whip your bellybutton around the field...trust me on that.  There are a ton of great folks that will help you...along with varying degrees of instruction, lol....

they must be doing it only to P you off, everytime I go there, I see all types of planes flying with maybe a seldom Tempest or F4U1C

The DA is mostly perk rides in F-3 mode spraying the sky with cannon. I would fly in the DA if the perk planes and F-3 was gone.

this is a myth/rumor that most who do not know any better will take as to be true, when it is not......

The DA has alot more to ffer than furball lake....... you just need to find the right people..... and the right people are there all the time 24/7...... you do not have to go find someone in the MA to have a great experience/practice in the DA....... although there is nothing wrong with asking someone in the MA to go to the DA with you, as long as you are not being arrogant about it or calling someone out......... then you might find out you are not as good as you think you are........

hope this helps

You guys that say u never see tempests or chogs at DA lake are delusional. Sorry.

And I have had the same experience of wanting to duel the random player and have met with a ton of different idiotic planeset suggestions. The last one the tardlet made me fly a TBM and he flew a Dora. I won so then he brought a spit16. I won that one so he got a Brewster and pw'd me and I augered on a blackout. He talked crap and went back to the lake. This is not an isolated occurrence. The level of gayness in there is astonishing.

The fact that HTC has not split the furball lake from the dueling fields after repeated requests from long-time players is another indication that customer satisfaction is not a priority.

Also, the fact that there is no arena for pure dogfighting (with WW2 planes) that has the same side balancing and eny settings as the mains is an indication that this game isn't really primarily about aerial combat as it has been stated to be by HTC in the past.

I went into the DA last week first time in ohhhhhh 5 -6 years ( had to duel Changeup) one pass by the Lake was enough for me, and i just waited for Changeup to finish what he was doing then we dueled and i left.

The lake is only good for one thing in my book.  Practicing high intensity evasives and reversals against higher, faster, and usually better planed opponents.  Not to mention there are usually two or more on you at a time.  If you take it for what it is, you will get a good skill sharpening workout.  Do not expect more or less than this if you up there.  For true learning and sheer joy of dueling find some of the great folks (not necessarily talking about the highest skilled pilots) out there, go to a side field, have at it and learn something new.

No I'm not a trainer. To get a hold of one the best thing to do is use the "private message". Go HERE! (http://trainers.hitechcreations.com/roster/roster.htm) for a list of trainers. Click on the "My Messages" above and send them a message. I know Morfiend spends a lot of time in the Training arena, he might be a good one to hook up with. If you can't match times with him, he might be able to hook you up with another.

yeah, the tempest is just fast enough to run away if anyone gets on your 6(witch will always happen)it also has 4 20mm so u dont need that good of aim cause if u get a few rounds to connect they will be going down.

I go to furball lake occasionally.  Especially when the tourney is going.  I try to get a few flights in the assigned plane before dueling but I also go occasionally just to get a quick fight in.  I was warming up for the tourney tonight with a Yak9-T and I saw several Temps, C-Hogs amd Spit XVI's along with a smattering of other planes (P-51D's, Spit IX's and a Jug).  Last time I went there for a quick fight outside the tourney I was in a Ki-61 and did ok.

I think maybe my best sortie ever at furball lake was before my duels with batfinkv.  I managed three kills in a Spit I then ran out of ammo and flew another five minutes dodging a hoard of red guys.  It might have helped because that was the only duel I won in our match but batfink did suffer the dreaded inverted stall.

Furball lake can be fun.  You just have to know what to expect.

What ride the other guys are in just gives me the giggles when they fall to pieces like any other poorly flown aircraft.  :lol   Even the guys that don't attempt to even the sides up, instead migrate to the side with the most fighters in the lake, make me smile when they eventually loose sight of their horde and just like above, blow up real good.

Sighting the questionable behaviors of a few players over furball lake, is just confirmation that anything goes there.  That's really not such a bad thing.  Like some have suggested here, F3 mode might be a great place to practice evasive maneuvers while outnumbered.  Some folks are just plain smooth at that and to their credit, I believe that is the most important skill, staying alive.

Anyhow, if you are looking for alternatives I have two plugs for you:

Today, Sat. June 11th, there is a scheduled training event in the Training Arena at 9 pm discussion and workshop will be on E and Pursuit.  Other basic intermediate maneuvers.  http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,314654.0.html (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,314654.0.html)

After 14 years I went to the TA and spent time with mtnman and it did me a world of good.  I'd recommend utilizing the trainers no matter what skill level you think you're at.  They can help from learning the basics to fine tuning advanced ACM.

Learning on your own may be one of the worst things you can do as it ingrains bad habits which can be difficult to break later on.

Like what?

1.  Diving into a red ball of a/c alone?
2.  Developing a "best" evasive move called "pull up as hard as you can"
3.  Learning only to the fly the a/c that won't compress on a 500 knot dive (that rules out all german iron)
4.  Somehow justifying to yourself that the Spit is a uber plane
5.  Getting great at trying to out flat-turn everyone and every plane you fly against

This was Changeup's uninstructed, frustrated first 6 months on Aces High...every night at furball lake.  Boy was that a waste of time looking back.
