Way to go Boston. :x
-
score?
-
Woooooo 3-0 boston.
First since 1973 if I'm correct. (Or was it 1990?)
-
4-0 Final score.
First cup win since '72
-
4-0 Thomas gets the shutout.
Luongo crushed.
1972 was their last. I am glad the Canucks got beat.
-
saved myself 20 bucks... :rock
-
yay
would have watched the series if the redwings were in it...

There are so many stories wrapped up with this win. Recchi goes out on top, Thomas as the most dominant goalie in a single season, all four Boston teams winning a championship in a single decade. Just awesome, I'm at a loss of words. :rock
-
The 72 Bruins I cared about. Can't say I care about hockey in it's present form. Something got lost a while back. Maybe it was Bobby Orr. Congrats to the Bruins though :)
-
my friend says the vancouver fans are rioting? really? :huh
-
Go Boston!! :rock
-
WTFG BRUINS WOOT WOOT :rock
-
Tyler Seguin.....
for coming in second place in the over hyped (as usual) NHL draft last year he didn't do to badly.
Go Jackets!!!!!!----2011-2012

I was quite happy. The last cup came while I was in the womb and for a diehard Bruins fan (even after a brief stint in the Canadians organization) I am very happy to see the Bruins hoist a cup. I am especially happy for Thomas. He has tenacity and sportsmanship and is a great example of what a sports hero should be.
Overall though, I was very unhappy with some of the behavior in the finals. For the premier hockey event the behavior by some players was simply unacceptable. Biting, blindside hits, taunting, and unsportsmanlike conduct have no place in the game's premier event. The league took too long to send a message after game one and the result was something that was painful to watch at times. Hopefully this will change with the departure of Campbell as the league disciplinary leader. I doubt it as Bettman is still in charge.

Same :cry
However, I'm glad Thomas finally got one, and Recchi will be able to go out on top. :aok

Has anyone seen the footage of the guy getting hit in the nuts with the tear gas canister?
-
"...rioting? "
What does one expect with a culture of violence and entitlement?
Thank Cod it wasn't an earthquake, tsunami or a 'Guns 'n Roses'
concert or it'd have been even worse.
"Something got lost a while back."
Helmets and lameplay - constantly dumping the puck and shoot-outs
to break a tie - did it for me.
-
Oh man, this makes me happy. I don't care for the Canucks, really don't care for the Sedins. WTG Boston! Beating them on their own ice! :aok :aok

:aok :rock

Looks like the Canadian fans are a bit weak minded.

Fixed.

My bad.... sorry
Before anyone takes offense to that statement. We all know there are folks like that all over the world. They are a "protected species" as I like to say. That is why they have increased in numbers. Otherwise mother nature would thin them out.
-
I wish they would show more of the TRUE hockey fans in Vancouver. The ones in the arena that gave Thomas, Recci and the rest of the Bruins standing O's
for a job well done. Not the idiots rioting.

People from Canada are very very passionate about hockey.
In the mid to late 40's the city of Montreal rioted for either a week or over a week because Rocket Ri chard was suspended from the stanley cup play offs.
-
Guess Vancouver didn't learn their lesson the last time they lost and rioted? Doomed to repeat and never win it, they are. :devil

+1
I was very impressed that they only booed Bettman. :devil
-
Anybody planning on going to the rolling rally tomorrow?
-
two words...
TITLE TOWN!!!
-
I had no dog in this year's playoff hunt, but congratulations to Boston. It's been too long and it's great when a franchise hits the big one after so long a dry spell.

I agree. It was shocking how loud the crowd boo'd Gary Betman when he was announcing awards, and then switch to cheering Thomas for winning MVP and then again when the cup was lifted. Must have felt great to be a Boston player at that moment to have a rival crowd cheer you that loudly. I'm happy Boston won as well, and for the first time in forever the 2 best teams were playing in the final.

Considering it takes 12 wins to get to that final, I'd have to say the 2 best teams are always there.
The game's played on ice, not paper...
-
I should have been more specific - the 2 best regular season teams.

Oooops, that flew over my head :salute

Vancouver was tops and Washington was second overall in the standings. Boston was 7th overall.
