Title: Please set field capture level back to 50%.

 Please set the field capture level back to 50%. When the capture level is too high the game quickly degenerates to
almost all horde fights. The horde will take a base even if its at 100% but smaller unit captures get too difficult
so people quit trying. At that level the horde has to break up some to defend and the fight spreads out some.
 It gets kind of one dimensional when there are 150 bases on a map and only 3 fights.
The same squads are always ranked good either way but i know my guys liked it better when we captured 100
bases a month instead of 20. The more spread out the fights the less people have lag issues also.Most of us aren't
playing on a government supercomputer, and a fight with 50 people in it can cause internet issues.

Also please put the ammo factories back up front. It gives green pilots a place to do milk runs to get their skill
up and gives vets someplace to fly crappy planes once in awhile. With all the guns at them now it would be great
fun to attack them with GV's like in the old days.
More things to do is more fun for all.

just make it 1%  then you could capture thousands of bases a month.

i wouldn't call it easy for 5 or 6 guys to take an airfield at 50%, just possible. At 75% my granny can show up
 in her walker and stop a capture unless there is a 30 plane horde at an airfield. GV's have almost no chance.
More to do is more fun.

50% too easy but I do think persistence should pay.
Changing towns so they don't auto regen would have a significant impact on base taking/horde dynamics.

 Yes it is easier at 50% for a group of 7 or less aces to take a field, but its just getting doable for all those
young squads still making their bones. Always lots of them i hope. Even at that however its still not a gimme, especially in gv's with the complex gun layout. The change in defense dynamics more than makes up for any increase in base turnovers. You naturally wind up with more medium size fights(a dozen or less) often squad on squad,which sometimes would go on for hours. Less experienced pilots learn more instead of just getting swamped in the horde and some great fun can be had by all.
 More things to do is more fun.

If they lower the town down percentage to 50, then you would have to raise the total capture to win back up to 40%.  Otherwise, you can still take a base with 6-8 guys, it just requires more coordination, team work, and a bit of luck. :aok

I vote for %90 and no flag.  Part of a successful defense used to be the careless haste on the part of the attackers for not checking and double checking to see if the town was down all the way.

The flag is a real downer, imo.

When the odds are 20v1, with alt and E advantage, and loaded P51D's, it is easy as eating lemon pie.  Hordes make it all possible.   

My (plus 3-4 other countrymen) unit ran a single set of B17's over an enemy town, knocked out 4 auto ack and many buildings in one pass.  20 minutes later we took 4 heavy fighters to finish off the town and town ack and 3 light and low alt dogfighters for cover.  We also brought along 2 goons for the capture (mind you the clock was ticking).  The defenders upped 5-6 guys and but we fought like mad and ended up getting the field by a split second.  One goon had all of his troops killed while they were running and the second goon got blown out of the air just after all the troops were let loose over the MR.  Luckily, they had enough air cover to land and tromp on into the MR, the last one entered as the La7 came in guns blazing.

It doesn't take a horde to capture a base.  It is the easy way out and players for some reason knuckle draggers think that they can put that on a resume.  If that is how they measure their fun in AH then so be it.  I just look at it as a new piece of scenery to look at if and when the base changes hands.  :)

I'm gonna argue the other way. town needs to be 0% down -- zero buildings hit. Just get troops into a maproom = "base take"

(I'm joking, but I bet some people think it's a good idea)

Heh, there's an interesting idea. The more troops you bring the less of town you need to destroy. I can already think of ways to pick at the idea but it does seem kind of interesting...  :)

This actually has merit, imo.  Why not give the troops some sort of value other than "10 into the MR = capture".  Perhaps 50 troops for %0 down, 40 troops for %25, 30 troops for %50, 20 troops for %75, and 10 for %100.

The only question is can HTC code the game for that kind of system.  THAT is the ultimate question.  That, and is HTC is willing to break with the "same-same as it has been since day one" issue.  The unwillingness so far to venture out from the "10 troops per troop carrier" has been obvious.

It seems like it would make sense though. More ground-pounders would be needed with less air support, and if the air force flattens the battle zone then you only need a few Joe's to set up a command post.

Keep the flag but make it visible only to the defending country.

You've got to be FistF :O ing me!

at 50% we got a white flag with one pass from pretty much any bomber.  I'd rather see it go back to 100% personally as long as we keep the flag.

 Yes a skilled player coming in from the right angle can get 50% in 1 pass sometimes. Can a novice?
Are total captures up or down? Are total kills? Hours played? Total damage points? GV captures and kills?
Probably just Obamneycare I guess?

absolute total captures is not a very telling number as it also depends a lot on total player numbers, tour length and other factors.

New towns - Tour 126
Offpeak system - Tour 131
Town requirement set to 50% and white flag - Tour 131
Town requirement 75% - Tour 132
Back to single MA - Tour 137


Change in arena setup (split LW MA vs offpeak system or single MA) had a big influence because they made sneaking bases in a low population arena more difficult.
Also you have to put the raw numbers of captured bases and the ratio captures/time into the war perspective: There are much less bases needed for reset nowadays (about 5 from each country on small maps only!). This week we had at one time two map resets wars within 24 hours.

 Wow! Thats some number crunching there! Way to go.
So it does appear captures per player are down, hours per capture are up, and kills per capture are up.
 Those numbers seem to indicate that more people are furballing or hording than before.
 Do you have charts on total captures, total Gv kills, total GV damage points also?

the more bases needed to be taken the more hordes there will be to go take those bases.at least now theres variety in the maps.

I was able to take town down when it was a t 50% with a single set of b26's using only 6 500 bombs.  leave it the way it is.

I agree fully. This setting seems to be doing well. Captures happening, people fighting over bases and wars are being won. It's a great breathe of fresh air.

PS. I like the single MA.

 Oh and Shuffler, I don't play x-box. I came to this game because it had the feel of the military simulators (M-COFT and U-COFT)  I operated and had a wide range of activities to do in groups large AND small.

Do not be so absolute in your assessment.  I equate being in a horde is no different than being a bench warmer on a winning sports team.  Lots of time to do nothing but cheer, hope you get playing time, and getting a plastic trophy for being a "winnah".  Oh the FUN!   :rolleyes:  I'll take earning a base by a split second after 44 minutes of hard work, some tactical planning, and some luck vs using the knuckle-dragger mentality of 20-v1 odds.  I despise the horde regardless of which side I'm on.
