Limit: 3 per country
Location: Two airfields should be placed close to the forward bases (near the borders where the fights are) and one of the airfields towards the center near the HQ.
Size: Runway long enough for a fully loaded B29 to lift off without crashing into the trees. All aircraft enabled at these bases except for the Me163, which can only be flown from the airfield closest to the HQ. Six fighter hangars, six bomber hangars, and three vehicle hangars.
Requirements for capture: 20 troops. Towns will be a bit larger than the traditional towns we see in the current base configurations. All building hardness remains the same. Towns replenish from damage at same rate as the others.
I would also like a bar to be constructed in the large towns so that I may drink my cartoon beer and get into cartoon fist fights with the experten dweebs that fly in this game 24/7.

Just imagine the vulchers circling over head waiting for the B-29s to take off.

Perhaps increase lethality of ack ever so slightly?
I doubt anyone would up B-29s if they knew that there was anyone in the sky above the base. Plus, there would be friendly fighters to contend with. Personally, I like the idea. Vulchers are a small problem, as the bases could be moved back further than the front lines if the problem persists. This would also allow the bombers time to reach a higher altitude.

i like it,but think of how many friggin ack guns there would be...that would take days to deack :x

This is a cool idea! :aok

The OP has a good point that having some runways in the game longer than the usual airfields for heavy B-29s and Ar234s would be king. I don't know about having one on the front-line though, that seems like creating an atractive target on the front without bringing any purpose to it (heavy buffs will most likely not be taking off a sector or less away from target). I could see some usefulness to it if it's back by the HQ or mid-country on the larger maps.

-1. Its lethality is already cranked so high that it's nullified any and all purposes of torpedo bombers in the online regular arenas. Go take a D3A or B5N up in the arena and find a CV or field to attack with it and let me know what you think of AAA lethality as it is. It's set currently at a level to detter even the toughest birds in the game from being too daring.

i like it but have away from the front like maybe a sector away from the HQ. i dont wanna take B29s off right next to a furball

Make the 3 rear bases extra large and capturable as well sprinkle a couple midway from rear to front.
Then make it such that these large field are the only place where many of the most uber planes are enabled.
This will cause people to have a motivation to capture said base because he will need that base to fly his favorite plane.

would be a great idea for the Zone Bases ... :bolt:

some people (not saying couintry names....) already have the mpotivation to horde a base to begin with. why give them another reason?

My question to the op would be why? Why do we need an extra large field?
-
So providing an extra incentive to motivate people to capture a base is bad?
How the enemy captures a base is up to them and has nothing to do with motivation.
Large bases in all the other sims also have many more and larger anti-aircraft guns than the smaller bases........that would also be true here.
Adding mannable 5 inch AA as seen on the ships would be sweet.

Because 1 p47 can down all ack at the current "large" fields in a single sortie.

I forgot to iterate on my original post. My intention was to provide an extra large airfield in an attempt to promote combat. Being that this particular airfield is the largest, this airfield should provide many spawn point links to neighboring bases for ground vehicles (including enemy bases), as it would also make sense since the airfield has 3 vehicle hangars. Because the extra large airfield contains more ground targets, it would be harder to bring down and would provide an incentive for base takers to gravitate to these airfields. Capturing them would give them a strategic position to attack on many fronts. In addition to this, the defenders should feel more inclined to defend this base because of its influence on the map. The furballers would also likely gravitate to these extra large airfields as there would be plenty of targets to shoot at; especially at those who are trying to capture the base.

This is not the reason why I would like to have an extra large airfield.

My intention would that it would promote combat. Think of it as a focal point of combat near the front lines.
I am not trying to promote mega horde vs mega horde either, although this might be a possibility. I am simply trying to find a means to help promote aerial combat by giving both base takers and furballers a place to do battle.

itd also centralize the attention of the frontlines and battlefields of the area again. oohhh.... tactics again!!! YAY!!!

The last time you tried to take off in a heavy Ar234/B-29/B-XX in the MAs without using auto-takeoff was, when? Not saying everyone needs them or will use them, but for select purposes by a select niche of players, they will be heavily desired and saught for operating out of.
Most nights I like to fight and wouldn't need them, but a couple times a month I might just want to do a really long high/alt bomb run to a strat while listening to music and sipping on a tasty beverage. I will load my buffs up heavy for the mission and go for my 1-2 hour sortie. I know there are others (though not a majority) that do this primarily as their source of entertaintment and enjoyment found within the game.

I like it, but don't see how only having say three like you originaly propose would do anything to change the current environment which is most players looking to fight don't have many choices and most mass at the same location. There are already many bases that are focal points and keystone objectives to taking a group/nest of bases, go load up and study a map up in the MAs and it wont take long to find one with the V-Spawns turned on. It is rare, but once in a blue moon players do organize a sneak of one of these bases with the intent/incentive being that taking it will secure the entire region of nearby bases shortly thereafter.
