Okay, fellas. I need your help. You guys won't have any bias (I hope). Me and my buddy got into an argument (team chest bumping). I say the 1996 Kentucky Wildcats are the best college basketball squad ever put together. He begs to differ, saying that the 1994 Arkansas Razorbacks are the best team ever. Which would you say is more deserving of "Best Collegiate Basketball Team Ever"? (Whether or not you believe they are the best or not, it's who would be more deserving).
1996 Kentucky Wildcats?
1994 Arkansas Razorbacks?
Videos of the two teams (respectively).

I can't find an Arkansas Video like the UK video, so I found the best one I could.

My vote obviously going to Kentucky. They were a remarkable team from both what I remember as a kid and highlight videos such as the one posted above.

1981-1982 UNC

1981-1982 UNC
Failure is not an option in this thread. :D
1982 was a helluva team, though.
-
UNC 1981-1982 went 32-2 with national championship.
These guys were on the roster.
Michael Jordan........Drafted into NBA, first round, pick 3
James Worthy.........Drafted into NBA, first round, pick 1
Sam Perkins............Drafted into NBA, first round, pick 4
Matt Doherty..........Drafted into NBA, sixth round

2002 Terrapins :ahand and if someone says Duke.

1972 UCLA Bruins
30-0 w/ an Average Margin of Victory of 32 points. I'm not a UCLA fan, but they are hands down, THE Best NCAA Men's Basketball Team EVER.
-
I think we have a winner.
-
Army Rangers. That's what the recruiter told me. ;)
-
Okay, let's say that there were only two teams in the history of the sport. Who would be better? UK '96 or Arkansas '94?
Make it a little easier.
-
It's just basketball :)
-
1997 Arizona wildcats for the simple fact that nobody expected anything when they won it all.
-
If the team did not go undefeated then they have zero claim to be the best ever. By trying to force us into only using two teams (one of which is your favorite school) makes the vote completely biased. You don't want to include every team in history for the simple fact that Kentucky doesn't hold a candle to the truly great college basketball teams in history.

I'm trying to remove bias by asking you guys, which it seems was a useless effort. If the team went undefeated, it doesn't mean they were the best ever. Kentucky is usually regarded as one of the premier basketball programs in the nation (both historically and presently), alongside UNC, Duke, Indiana, Kansas and UCLA. These are the "blue blood" programs. No, I don't want to include every team in history because the argument with me and my buddy was between the Kentucky Wildcats and the Arkansas Razorbacks.
Saying UK isn't one of the truly great basketball teams in history is like saying Florida, Alabama, Notre Dame, WVU, Texas and/or Oklahoma aren't truly great football teams.
It's just basketball :)
I know, but I just want a decisive answer between the two teams I listed. Me and my bud both have bias, so I'm trying to remove it. Being a UK fan and he an Arkansas fan, basketball is second to breathing, it seems. :lol

I understand your argument. However, you said which is THE BEST EVER, not which of these two teams were better. Of those two teams Kentucky was better in my opinion, but by no means the best ever. Also, as you see by my icon, I'm a huge WVU fan. While I consider WVU a great football school, I would never call them the best since they like to choke when it counts.

I didn't say "best ever." I said the best of the two which I gave. ;)

Actually yes you did. But I don't want to argue over it.

:headscratch: ... "I say the 1996 Kentucky Wildcats are the best college basketball squad ever put together."

It wasn't just the fact that the UCLA team went undefeated in 1972 ... it was that team's effort over a 3 year period that makes that squad the greatest college basketball team EVER !!!
"The 1972–73 UCLA Bruins men's basketball team won another National Championship for UCLA by beating the Memphis Tigers, 87–66 in the Final Four. In the NCAA Championship, Bill Walton led UCLA to an 87–66 win over Memphis State in which he made 21 of 22 field goal attempts and scored 44 points. Some regard this as the greatest ever offensive performance in American college basketball. The Bruins set a new NCAA record of winning 89 games and losing 1 during a three-year span."

Yes, I saw that, UCLA was probably the best ever.
The point being, I am biased, "best team ever" is my bias, I'm trying to remove that for the sole purpose of the argument I'm having with this leech I hang out with. :D

uh Razorbacks.
-
uh Razorbacks.
I decline your input :P :lol

UCLA is the best ever.
Fixed.

Mt. Dew is the best soda ever made.
