Lost a 163 yesterday attacking a B-17. He wasn't firing his guns but I got an insta-death after raking him pretty good. Was this splash damage from being so close to the hits, or just a collision that the system counted but didn't print out?

Fast forward to the last 10 seconds and then when I get close, slow down film speed to .08. No collision takes place in the film.

Hmm looks like a collision was imminent doesnt it?

I did the same not long ago. No collision, so I wrote it off to splash damage.

Gotta' keep that Worst Pilot Ever achievement current ;)

I'm already past him in that picture.

That's my guess. Just not sure if splash damage killshooting is modeled in the game.

It's quite effortless, I assure you. :D

splash damage. As the B17 flew out of the splash you flew into it. You can see it in external view in slow motion.

You can take damage from your own weapon's explosives in AH.
