Title: X52 help
Post by: LThunderpocket on July 05, 2011, 06:33:38 PM
ok so my X52 came today.i went to set it up but for some reason i move the stick and it makes my view look up.the X and Y axis numbers dont even move when i move the joystick.moving the joystick highlights "button 0"

2 of the keys that allows you to map are the look up and look back up.

if anyone can help it'd be great

It sounds to me like you need to just go to map controllers and map the axes to elevator, aileron, rudder, ect.

they are mapped to it but the numbers showing that the stick is using those inputs dont move

have you tested/calibrated in windows?

also check the serial cable pins...make sure none are bent....if you can, check for continuity also..if the problems aren't fixed within windows...you could have a faulty cable

Shouldn't be...but could have a manufacturing fault......doesn't take much to mess up one of those wires internally.

hey lt you dont need the software, too many problems with it.  it looks like you havent mapped it right within ah.  the problems you are having are the same I did when I first got the stick.  I'll see if you're online tonight and help you with it.

control panel>game controllers. you should have a box open up, highlight the controller and click on advanced tab...as semp said no need for the software....hmmm actually. Do you have the pro or ordinary....not sure about the pro...have heard from some that they had issues with it...not sure what they were though...just in game anomalies.

IMO, remove the X-52 program, reboot, & use the AH map controllers afterward....? I always bring up the map controllers Clipboard, then move the device I want mapped, then reassign, etc. & of course you'll have to calibrate.  :salute

Not to pee on your parade but I'm guessing (with the knowledge from personal experience and numerous posts in the Hardware/Software forum) your X52 will fail to calibrate properly in 6 to 12 months. If you have a money back guarantee with your purchase, send it back and purchase a CH set-up. It will last you damned near forever with little or no problems.

I have used 3 (2 just this year, 1 returned after 2 hours) ch sticks versus a single x52 (had it for 3 years, no problems).  no guarantees in life.

Yeah it shouldn't but....  My x52 was broken out of the box.... Throttle had HUGE dead zones. Went back to x45 and been using it ever since. It's OLD but still works pretty good. I guess between the x45 and x52 Saitek decided they were trying to hard and should probably just make em look cool and not worry if it really worked properly...

I have one for 5 years?  No problems what so ever.  Try a different USB port and make sure nothing else is plugged in in the same USB set up.  Meaning, if you have USB ports in the front of the computer, they  probably all share the same port/power.  Don;t plug anything else there but the stick and give it a try.

Been using an X52 since Nov 06 and with the exception of a broken wire that I fixed, it's worked fine..

I just love the CH snobs....   :rock

Use what works for you. I used a saitek 290 for quite some time. Would go through one a year. I bought a CH setup about 5 years back and have had it ever since.

d/l this utility  http://www.glarysoft.com/   then uninstall the drivers again.  run the registry cleaner option, reboot it follow the instructions from skuzzy here

http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,71591.0.html  scroll down to the x52 calibration.  then run the glarysoft registry cleaner again, then reboot and try installing it.  I'll be on around 4, or give me a call after that.  I had the same problem first time I got it and that was on windows xp, it went away by itself and never had it after that.

Sounds like you may need to try a new cable....could have a fault on that one....does the hat switch or any of the buttons work?......
It really does sound like an issue between the throttle and stick..remember...just because it is new doesn't mean it isn't broke...who knows how it got treated from manufacture to your door.

If you are sharing USBs with the stick you will have problems.  Unplug everything else and just try the stick.  I had a USB mouse on the same USB bank and the stick went nuts.

X-52's got no USB cable coming from the stick, it's a proprietary cable that goes from the stick to the throttle, then the throttle gets connected to the PC via USB.

It sounds to me like something's up hardware-wise between the stick and the throttle.  The issue could be anywhere from the throttle to the cable to the stick.  If it were me, I'd explore warranty at this point.

1 free vulch says it is the port.  Once he unplugs everything else the stick will come alive.

Small correction, it's a standard PS2 cable, widely available.

As for the USB troubles, some functions of the X-52 driver will tie to the specific USB port. If you change the port/hub, reinstall the driver.

To add to Bighorns valuable imformation, check said ps2 cable make sure no pins are bent out of position. This can easily happen when messing around with all the conections. If you find a bent pin, carefully straighten it and try again,if no pin is found to ne bent or loose try a replacement cable, they are fairly cheap and available at most bigbox electronics stores.

Thanks for correcting my info.  Couldn't think of 'PS2' and I wasn't 100% sure it was a standard PS2.

If I were so inclined, I'd take the free vulch bet though dedalos.  Without the throttle attached to the PC, the stick has no means of connecting to the PC (the PS2 cable is the only cable on the stick, and it goes from the stick to the throttle, then the USB connector goes from the throttle to the PC) ergo it's gonna be mighty, mighty difficult for the PC to recognize the stick without the throttle plugged in.  :D

Bighorn and Morfiend have got the right of it.  If it were me, I'd buy a new cable, see if that fixes it and if not, then pursue warranty.

I have an x52 for 5 years and I have no clue what you are talking about.  Why are we talking about  the throttle not being plugged in to the USB?  Yeah, if that is teh case it will not work.  It will also not work if the PC is not plugged in but again, how is that relevant?

Misread what you were saying.  I was reading it as "unplug everything (including the throttle) except the stick", but looking back I see what you meant was unplug everything but the X-52.

Hi guys,
Just connected my brand new X-52 Pro from BestBuy.
Been usin cheapie sticks prior to this. After a few initial glitches, i got it workin fairly right. That is to say that many of the functions were spot on but a lot of it wasn't right.
I had to close program and re-start computer to improve what it would do.
Each time it picked up what I had programmed the (on-line before)
Weird but that's how it went.
