Maybe im the only one that has noticed this, but I swear since last patch I have been PW more than I have for the previous 3 years. I mean ok, some AC are generally just gonna give you a 90% likelyhood of bein PW because of a number of reasons....little armor, HOing all the time, etc, but I swear I can be 1000 in front of a Spit thats firing 303s at my Jug and the 1st ping PW me everytime. That is just one example. Has anyone else been gettin PW more frequently lately?

How many times should a pilot be shot before he's wounded in your opinion?

At the very least 44 times. Our pile-its are nerfed.
-
I don't understand how you get just wounded when hit by a 20mm anyway. Wouldn't it just rip an arm or leg off?

They are explosive. You can be wounded by them without actually having the whole 20mm round hit you. If a 20mm hit doesn't include the free bonus gift of an instant trip back to the tower, but it still wounded you it just means you caught some shrapnel.

I understand what you are saying, i get a pw every other time my plane gets hit. it's just part of life, kindda like knowing that now 1/2 the people fly la7 just to ho everything in sight.

And the other half fly P-51s and run from everything in sight. :neener:

I figured that this post would get the usual idiotic responses such as "how many times should a pilot be hit before hes PW." All I meant is that II used to be able to fly a whole night without bein PW once and now it seems as if every fight I am in it happens. So, im guessing that no matter where in the 'cockpit area" the round hits it instantly PWs the pilot? And i love the smartazz's that make a dumb comment about cannonb rounds because in reality, a cannon round hitting anywhere near the cockpit would more than likely kill the Pilot, yet I have watched multiple cannon strkes hit the cockpit only for that plane to keep flyin as if nothing is wrong. This post was just ASKING if it has been more abundant as of late....not to complain about being PW. SO keep dumb comments to yourself please. Thank You!

I don't get many PWs, and certainly no more than usual recently...mostly I lose my tail or wings through an SA fail :)

I have been flying the A5 a lot lately. I wonder if hitech coaded me liking the a5 more in the latest update. :headscratch:

hey i got tired of people runing away from my spit, so I fly ponies now. If I wanted to be a dweeb I would get a 190 or an la7 :D.

Their are no dweeb planes just dweeb pilots that blame certain planes for their poor flying ability's.And you will get more PW's in some planes like the B ..i mean p 38,Due to its open front end.
:airplane:

i was thinking the same thing the other day

I don't think it's really changed since last patch, what it feels more like to me is the angles people shoot from seems to cause more pw's. The guys that tend to shoot from wherever they are seem to cause more pw's.
Wiley.

Thank you...see, that is a logical expanation and I have thought of that as well. I just cannot remember being PW so much as the last few weeks

gripe gripe gripe :lol :O. It only happened ONCE but i got a PW in an M4 for chrissakes ! Was a definitive WTF moment. Has never happened again and I spend almost all my time in a GV.

No.

They seemed to have increased in my opinion. Not sure why and plane doesn't matter.
-
I missed some incredibly easy shots last night. Got me thinkin that maybe hitech coaded my guns to fire crooked. :headscratch:

I have secreted an electromagnet in your left wing that seems to be working finally. If I see you complain about it again I will turn on the HO magnet in the nose that I installed at the same time.
-
I noticed it shortly after the ww1 arena, but I must say in the past 2 months, it appears that I get hit more often. I mean no damage to plane other then the blood splatter, that I usually finger paint in. IMHO

Toying around in a 190 lately? :aok

For me they seem to come in waves. I can go months with only an occasional PW and then I'll got a week where I get PWed every couple flights.
I dont mind that we have PWs so much as I loath the way they are modeled in the game. Particularly the standard final approach blackout which doesnt just seem to happen on final approach every time I try to land. It DOES happen on final every time I try to land.
As well as total blackout with every woozynesss.
As I've said before. There has GOT to be a better way.

I have noticed no more pilot wounds than the usual, which is all the time for me... :rofl
-
I posted this in the wishlist thread about the rearm and repair of aircraft, but I think it is applicable here as it has to do with injuries sustained by the pilot during combat and the manner in which medical attention was administered to these men during wartime, and how HiTech can more accurately model this into this game.
In my extensive research I have uncovered a few vague references to pilots having returned to combat status with remarkably short, one might even say "instantaneous" recovery times, no doubt due to the amazing fighting spirit of these warriors and their call to perform their duties to country and comrades, as well as due to the remarkable healing power of the medicines and recouperative regimines being pioneered at the time. This morning I stumbled upon what I feel is the "Holy Grail" of historical photographic evidence that should finally provide backing to the often requested ability to administer "first aid" of sorts to cartoon pilots when wounded in game......
I propose, based on the evidence below........
that spinach be supplied to pilot wounded fliers while on the rearm pad.

I mean, it really did work. "Strong to the finish" as they used to say! :)

Maybe that is a better explanation then. Like I said, Went like 3 tours where I can only remember a handful of times I was PW and for last 4-6 weeks its almost every other sortie and at odd ranges like 800-1000 with 1 ping.

And the skilled percentage of the player base flying axis rides, with the exception the 80th pilots, some of The Few, and a few squadless pilots.
I wonder if that says the allied rides draw incompetent ppl or if the Axis rides increase skill level :noid.

Plenty of skilled people fly Allied rides. Just a lot more unskilled players tend to as well, so the stats look worse on a K/D basis.

I know, I'm just annoyed at the allies right now. Had a 262 some how rammed by a P-38 flying about D1000 away :bhead.

I definitely noticed a big increase in the incidence of PW after sometime after the last patch. Then they seemed to subside. To me it seems like there is a problem with my computer or connection - but I can't identify it. My net status is very good (almost flat line for the most part) and I get very good framerates (59-60) solid. Sometimes I get the 'switched to TCP' message right after entering a server, and my net status will look like a sawtooth. Almost always I'll relog to try to get a better connection if that's the case.
Yesterday in particular, it seemed like everyone else's guns had 10x more potency and mine had 10x less. I relogged several times, scanned my PC for viruses and spyware- but everything is clean. This is anecdotal, but I felt like someties I could pour fire into a target and not get anything, but a head on pass snapshot from a P-51B would destroy my plane instantly and land me in the tower. After something like this happens I always check my net status it will invariably look perfect - nice flat line.
I am able to get some kills, but nothing like my typical K/D. To tell the truth it reminds me of my golf game - maybe one beautiful, great shot out of every 20. And the other 19 can range from mediocre to downright embarrassing. I gave up golf. I've flown long enough to recognize a slump, and my way of dealing with them is to take breaks or switch to different aircraft but after yesterday I'm back to suspecting its not me, its something in the game or my connection.
Has anyone devised a way to systematically test hardware and connection for problems like this? Its tough cause its intermittent.
I may have to start filming my engagements so at least I've got objective evidence - right now its just a firm suspicion that something is amiss somewhere.
-
That is about as great an explanation as any. Sometimes my rounds can make a plane disappear after barely hitting them, others can put a 3 second burst of JUG .50s into the cockpit of a spit and hell keep on going. My Net status is always flatline, never any sort of jump but because of the agoe of my comp the FR can sometimes be 30 or less in the air though im usually around 45-60.
-
Lol, I prolly got PW'd 2 sorties out of 3 yesterday. Of course, I have prolly lived 1 out of 4 last few days....likely follows the way the battles are going, and which ones I choose to join
-
Took me three pages to figure out what a PW was.... :old:

How do you guys dismiss random chance so easily?
Nothing changed, it's all in your head.

As good a place as any for cartoon bullets I suppose :)

I keep randomly running into people who kick my arse....

After being away for a year I noticed that the pilot now makes a sound when he is hit. Scared the bejesus out of me the first time I heard it.

I subscribe to the windshield/bug theory. Sometimes you are the windshield, sometimes the bug...
