Post by: Guppy35 on July 12, 2011, 02:03:33 AM
P40N, P40F, Hawk 75 and P40C

Seems like a great line up to go with the 40E.  Thanks HTC!

From the firewall back, the P-35 and P-40 are virtually the same 3D model aren't they?   So I suppose it's possible.   Lots of skin possibilities; I think P-36s were used at Pearl Harbor, in the Battle of France, defending North Africa from Allied invasion, and possibly in Indonesia early in the War?

I'm hoping we get a lot more love for the Curtiss Hawk/Warhawk/Kittyhawk family real soon.... quite frankly, it was one of the most important allied fighter aircraft of the war.

We have what, 6 Spitfires in game, 6 109's, 5 190's (including the 152 variant)? And only two variants of the airframe that was the major allied workhorse in the early and mid years of the war.

+100 for hoping that Dan has accurately foretold the future!!

Without Curtiss there most likely would not have been a mustang.

Yes they were apart from small cosmetic details like the tailwheel fairing and main gear fairings which were eventually removed at least from the planes that saw service in Finland. Cockpit is practically the same also but lacks the armored glass. The Cyclone engined Hawks served in Burma well into 1944 and in the Finnish Air Force Hawks racked up 190 kills.

*pinches himself*  Owee!!!

Don't think so.

I can not honestly recognize any desire of mine to see more P-40 varients in the game without also expressing a desire for another one (or two) 51s added.  I like the P-40 more than the P-51, but both are very sexy.

If you all just say, "Thanks for working on more P-40's, HTC!" they have to give them to us. That's the rules.  :noid

What P-51 can be added that would fill any sort of gap in the plane set? P-51A and A-36 were rather insignificant, the H never saw combat, and let's not even get into the C/K silliness....

My reference was to the fact that North American was asked by the military if they could set up a line to make more Curtiss Hawks. Their answer was they can but they thought they could build a new better fighter instead. The military had Curtiss open it's knowledge base to North American. This was to help jump start NA.

NA was not previously known as a fighter manufacturer.
