Title: FSX
Post by: B-17 on July 12, 2011, 08:20:39 PM
Installing it now...

 :O :O :O :O :O :O :O

Nothing can describe how excited I am... I've been flying FS98 for like...5 years now.

Anybody care to share their views on FSX/the FS family? Positive? Negative?

Anything...

I didn't think it offered much more over the last version, other than some eye candy upgrades.  I was rather displeased to find that they had taken the 172RG and 182 out of the default planeset.  Some of the new avionics and IFR features are nice, but only if you do a lot of IFR stuff.

Last version...Is that 2004? I've played that, on a friend's laptop in BC. Needless to say... Wasn't fantastic.

I think 09 was the last one?   I just got it a couple months ago.   Like the helicopter, try the oil rig landing.

FS2004 is the best of the bunch.

Yep, there are some good missions on there.  I like the ones with the Grumman Goose.
Misplaced my FSX a few months ago.  I should see if I can find it.

You need to do this BEFORE you install any third party addons or you will pay in performance....

Also there is this one

you need to toy with FSX before you do any true flying... i didnt do it and had problems from the get go, though i was some what able to work them out.

I have 2004 & FSX, most of the time if I use these simulators I use the 2004 because it feels more like a simulator, the FSX on the other hand is a lot closer to a game. Also I use the microsoft simulators only to practice procedures or IFR, the flight physics is a lot more realistic in Aces High.

Lol multiplayer is fun, I always love to fly hours and hours and let it set at autopilot to find my self out of fuel 100 feet from ground lol

I used to love FSX. When I was laid off I took the Lear jet around the world. That was fun because I could run my music in the background, crack a beer and manage the in-flight systems. The leg over the Indian Ocean was a tad boring, but the sunset and night landing in India made it worth it. Had very little fuel remaining if I recall.
