Title: REPO Games
Post by: Rob52240 on July 13, 2011, 11:26:34 AM
Could this be the cruelest thing on TV?

Repo men asking trivia questions to people who are getting their car repossessed in order to give them a chance to keep their car.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_67laby4zYk&NR=1

So Bill Clinton didn't discover electricity?  France isn't an American State?  Toopan isn't a country?
God bless American Public Schools.

America's schools are no better and no worse than other nations. You get what you take out of schooling. Some just try to pass and move on without trying to actually learn.

It is more the person and not the school. With that being known and the fact that America accepts folks from so many nations..... we can move on to where are the folks from. How many are French, German, and etc.

There are dumb folks everywhere. All you have to do is turn on the news to get your fill. :)

That show is not any more real than any of the other repo shows out right now.  Although I busted out in laughter when she first said "Dallas" HAHA

THERE was one of those repo shows.....the one with the overly fat dood......and the guy that looks like he's rehearsed looking like a bad arse.

the bad arse looking dood, if friggin hilarious. he acts the part pretty well, if to the extreme....then when push comes to shove, he's the biggest sissy on the planet. i almost pissed myself laughin at him when he got caught in mexico, repo'ing a car.......

Denial is a wonderful thing, isn't it, too bad it leads to utter BS.

Yes, if you don't try, you won't learn, duh!

The reality is that it has to do with the parents and the parents putting pressure on their kids & the local school systems to perform as well as often giving money to fund more & better programs (such as AP classes etc..). Its very easy to find large discrepancies between public schools (in the US and elsewhere).

That being said, more motivated students coming out of "Gymnasium" in northern Europe tend to graduate knowing much more math than students in the US. That being said, they split the children between the ones who they think will be 'sucessful' and 'not successful' artificially inflating the success of certain institutions as well as allowing them to teach more in a shorter period of time (As the kids are more motivated).

In summery, no Schools across the country are not equivalent, nor are they equivalent to the rest of the world, it must be looked at individually on case-by-case basis.

WHEN I  was working for a towing company, i obviously dealt with other towing companies. at least here in nj, that's who does a lot of repossessions.....is towing companies.
it's fun to see these clowns deliberately make a bad situation, so they can show off. the guys i knew that repo'd usually were there and gone, and you'd have no clue they were there till you went out, and your car was gone.

they used dollies pretty often......park the truck down away from where your car is, couple of guys go up, put the dollies underneath the tires, then 2 guys simply push the car down the street to the towtruck, winch it up(they're far enough away that you'd not hear them......they did whatever they could to avoid the exact thing you see on tv.

It is sad that so many people are struggling. I guess its good for the repo biz though. For people with jobs, its easy to say, people are being irresponsible but with 10% unemployment, I'm sure many are loosing because they lost their jobs and are struggling to find new ones.

but here's something we all miss.......the unemployed guy with $130/month cable, 3 cars on insurance, iphone, with top of the line data plans, and probably a few i'm missing....all things that could be cut back to keep making those payments.

when i talked to the drivers of those companies, it wasn't like they weren't warned......they're given a LOT of opportunity to make payment arrangements.

The descepancy is from lack of interest. There are places where folks are not interested in learning. Many times the school, without any help from the parents, starts failing. This is not necessarily the school's fault. Although they do play into it.

Only reality show I watch is Mythbusters. Far as im concerned, about 90% of the reality shows on now are absolute trash. I can only hope the day comes when the reality show bubble bursts and most dissapear off the air.

I used to repo cars all over miami without a wrecker.

We worked in two man teams much of the time and actually opened the cars and drove them back.

Each month, we got a bunch of keys.

Nobody was late to work on "key day".

I got to the point that I could either talk them into paying or giving up the car to me but I did hear shots behind me more than a few times.................so I went around the block, came back, and did a lawn job on the yard using thier own car knowing anybody who capped off some rounds would run into the house before the neighbors could come out and see them doing it.

I never considered Mythbusters to be reality. It is interesting and entertaining all at the same time.

Yeah, my first thought when I saw an ad for that was exactly the same as the OP.  Cruslest thing I could think of, next to doing the same idea with home foreclosures.  Mark my words... in 15 years, we're going to have the Running Man on TV.

Have you attended schools in other countries?  I think it is impossible that American schools are not better than some and not worse than others.  Since when did everything became equal on this planet?

Make up your minds.  You guys cant be Americans only when it suits you.  You are either Americans or German or French etc. but can't switch back and forth depending on the situation.

Yes I have but never in Europe.

I'll add that in Venezuela our parents paid $2000 each for my brother and I to attend an english speaking school. Here in the states we should do that with non-english speaking folks to help fill the education coffers.

I would estimate that I went close to around 30 different schools up till I was 12 years old. One year alone we went to 8. Most of those were all over the US. Some in Canada, Mexico, and South America. I have lived in every state in the US except for Alaska and Hawaii. So yes I have been around a bit.

Well, that leaves a lot of the world out doesn't it?  But with that experience you should know that US schools are for sure better than some, and that even schools within the US are better and worse than others depending on location.  What the students do is a different story.  I am talking school systems.
