Is this possible?
I have a film of a b17 that fired every single gun dead straight down simultaneously as I flew dead center below at 1500 distance.
In the film, I can clearly see each gun position and identify them.........and every single position is firing dead straight down at the same time.
As I crept forward below, the tail gunner was able to fire forward and down as well.
Creeping past below this plane was not easy because the b17 was going 310 TAS at 35,800 feet altitude.
Is this normal for the modeling or am I seeing something that should not happen in game?
Next time I see a b17, I will fly directly above and see if the chin and ball turret are able to fire straight up........through the fuselage.............. as I saw the top gun doing during this mission.

Send it to HTC. Don't bother posting it on the BBS.
-
I'm discussing this on a public forum before wasting HTC's time with something that might be operating the way HTC intended it to operate.
It is clear to me you are not the one to answer this question.
-
Here's an answer : The film viewer feels incomplete and has many bugs. You may
see one thing in the film, however inside the game it may have happened differently.
Read as : Press fire all button in game, all guns with a line of site will fire, but not ALL guns will.
In film, it may see the 'fire all' input, and fire ALL regardless of which actually fired.
No, not every single gun is supposed to fire in one or every single direction. You really needed
to open a forum to discuss that? I think you lost your common sense at that ridiculous altitude.
-
You could have offered that information on your first post.
-
It has nothing to do with the film viewer. You would have seen the same thing watching the person online shooting.
When you see some one else shoot, you simply see bullets being fired from ALL positions in the direction he is shooting. This is not a bug, but rather a design consideration that encompasses band width usage and CPU cycles.

Ok. We "see" all the guns firing, but can the masked guns hit us?

No. The only hitting is happening on the front end of the bomber player and on his end only the guns that can fire in the direction he is pointing are firing. The bandwidth and CPU considerations don't apply to him or her.

Next on "Icepac's Quest to Prove AH2 Really Sucks", how the canopy jettison handle doesn't really jettison the canopy--bug, or intended game feature?
-
:rofl Nice one, Stoney

Apparently, some on this thread climbed bombers over 30k thinking they were safe.....but they fell to Icepac's guns.
Your bomber is not safe at 40k either.

Referring to yourself in third person is the penultimate sign of awesomness! It really puts you in elite company!

Didn't Yoda refer to himself in third person, or did he just have poor english skills? :headscratch:
I can't remember, but I know he sounds just like Grover from Sesame Street. :lol

Didn't Yoda refer to himself in third person,...?
No. Suffers not, our Jedi Master from delusions of self. Instead standard english vernacular, he abides not by. ;)

Frank Oz did the voice for both....

The predicate before subject, he speaks. To explain the situation, a better way.

I guess you guys were too busy being chumps to mention "global fire" using the "N" key which would have explained what I was seeing.
-
I think they did a very good job explaining to you what was happening. The "global fire" or "fire all" (as it is more commonly called) was mentioned a few times in the thread. I don't think anyone on here can be blamed for not knowing that you, someone who has been playing the game for a while, doesn't know the difference between firing primary guns and firing primary and secondary guns. It's not that they were unhelpful, but the almighty icepac acted like he knew it all already.
You weren't looking for an answer, you were hoping to find something wrong with the game.

actually, it was mentioned in a way...

i second what jayhawk said, you had been at this game long enough when you posted, it honestly shouldn't have been a question.

I love how icepac is so proud of climbing to 30k+ and shooting down bombers all the time :lol
Keep up the good work, ace :salute

He was doing in in one of the jap rides, then one of the patches that came out noted that it fixed an issued causing that plane to over-perform at high alts.
-
Sorry guys....I missed that "all fire" in an early post.
As far as the overperforming Zero.
I found it and had great fun with it knowing it was going to be fixed very quickly.......but somehow it wasn't fixed as quickly as I expected even though I posted threads about it and mentioning it on channel 200.
I am sorry you missed out on the fun but it's not like I kept it to myself.
Had any of you actually explored the edges of the flight envelopes of the planes you fly instead of performing the exact same low altitude mission profiles ad nausea, you might have found and enjoyed it as well.
Here's one I found a couple of months ago that is largely useless and may have been fixed in the latest patch.....haven't tried it yet.
Some guy whined when he performed a bad intercept in a me163 and could not get to me but I have no trouble getting the 163 up to 85,000 feet and flying it 10 sectors.
I've only flown it in the main like this twice.

icepac,
Have you tried that since the last patch? There was a note about fixing some aircraft that over performed at altitude. I know the Lancaster was one that got fixed.
-
Haven't tried it yet but will post results of a test here when I do.
