Title: Porking prevention
Post by: jimson on July 14, 2011, 12:44:59 PM
Any suggestions on how to keep objectives from being taken against no opposition?

This week, the Allies rolled 10 bases and met all the objectives by Sunday night.

After resetting it, I shortened auto gun down times to 30 minutes and made it require 2 troop loads to capture so that it would take at least 2 players to capture a base.

I also upped the Ack lethality in the wee hours, but would set it back to low for prime time play.

I'm just not sure how to strike a balance that will keep it fun but fair.

lower the ENY of anything that carries troops to 5, so sides need to be balanced for bases to be taken? :headscratch:

Make it so objects are still destructible, but The base cannot be captured without a certain number of enemy players in the arena?   :headscratch:

Well, that would do it for base capture, but seems not to be an option.

Also good, but not an option

What else ya got?

Counsel's opinion is that it would be considered unlawful.

Damn their oily hides.

I think this would make airfield capture onerous with 30 min ack, especiall with the low numbers. Good idea for v-bases and ports though. I do think ack lethality should be high all the times, I got vulched more in this AvA setup than ever before by a guy that circled continuously around in large field ack unscathed :furious. Didn't have any other airfields left anywhere nearby to lift from to avoid it.

The exception is puffy which seemed to be on overdrive and extra lethal. :cry

Can it be set up to prevent capture until a minimum of two players are on each side?  Then, as long as there are at least two or more on each side, it's a free for all.    :salute

Can't you just reset the map right before primetime play? It seems unfair to punish guys who play in off-hours just because the arena is empty. It's not like score and rank mean anything, and there are no perks to be gained. The only thing of concern is making it so the map can't be won, thus resetting and getting FUBAR until someone can get in and fix it.

Turn the ack up. I mean waaaaaay up.

If it's possible to make the ack 200%, super-duper killer, sniper at 5k accurate I say do it.

Ideally it would be better to have the ack at rear bases more lethal than at front line bases to simulate the loss of combat effectiveness through fatigue. However, I don't know if that can be done.

in that case I'm going to resubmit mine too :D

this must be pretty easily changed on the server side for each arena - LW/MW/EW ENYs are all different. LW ENYs were adjusted recently (didnt see it in the readmes but I must have missed it.)

I'd bet the HTC crew could do this easily on request, its got to be worth asking them :)

I'll study the eny thing. I know CMs can't change the values.

As far as eny in general, I don't know it would affect the arena to turn it on.
