We will be running this on July 23, at 9:30 pm Eastern time for the scenario players.
-----------------------------------------------
Join us to commemorate the Battle of the Coral Sea, which ended on May 8, 1942. We will run it on May 7 -- the first day of carrier battles.
Coral Sea was one of the most-important naval battles between the allies and Japan. It was the first major naval battle following the attack on Pearl Harbor, was the world's first carrier-vs-carrier battle, and was the first battle between Japan and the US where the US was not routed.
The carriers in the battle were the USS Lexington and Yorktown, both fleet carriers, and on the IJN side, the fleet carriers Shokaku and Zuikaku and the light carrier Shoho. Lexington and Shoho were sunk, and Yorktown and Shokaku were heavily damaged.
As a result of the battle, Japan cancelled its invasion of Port Moresby, which it desired as a staging point for an invasion of
Australia.
Welcome to This Day in WWII: the Battle of the Coral Sea!
All are welcome to play.

Logs are here, in the "TDI" section:
http://ahevents.org/event-logs.html
Both teams sank an enemy carrier. The IJN killed 82 enemy planes, and the US killed 70 enemy planes. So, very, very close with the IJN taking the victory.
Well done, folks!
In two weeks, we will run Coral Sea again, with Team Alpha as the US and Team Zulu as IJN.
It was a lot of fun, and I hope you guys will join us again -- and bring more friends to fly with you! <S>
