Title: text box
Post by: guncrasher on July 17, 2011, 05:13:12 PM
this has been requested a couple of times.  I would like for the text box in game to be "tuned out" ( i cant think of the right word).  for no other reason than it wont appear when making films and using fraps.  I know you can make the shots from recorded films, but it would be cool to film without the text box showing up when we record "live" specially for people like me that use trakir and want the views recorded.  a dot command ".textbox on/off"  would be really appreciated.

I would like to add, there's things that ah film doesnt record.  like blackouts/redouts, airplane shaking due to compression, etc.  all this must be recorded from within the game and the dreaded text box will show up.

Why not just put the text box on the bottom of your screen and make it see though. That way it wont cover the visibility at all and only the letters (not the blackbox) will cover cover partial instruments.

Ah I did not realize you wanted it for the film editor, +1 then.

I believe you can also delete all text from the film (BACKUP THE FILE FIRST, AS THIS CANNOT BE UNDONE) and you won't see anything in the text buffer except perhaps system text (not sure).

Unfortunately, this is not possible when recording live in-game action with Fraps.

yeah that's why i am requesting the option to remove it from the game.

Maybe something as simple as a slider for adjusting the transparency of the text in the message window like you can for the box behind it?

I think much like there is a toggle to expand/shrink the text box in-game, some would like to be able to toggle it completely off.

I wouldn't mind having it off.  Maybe foce it on, if you name was included in the message somewhere.

Or, and I might get shot for this one, it might be easier to caod/impliment if in-game private messages and system messages that relate directly to the player or arena made a little semi-discrete chime/ding (maybe disabled when the player selects "AFK" or a new alternate "DND" checkbox) so they are "aware" of some messages in the text box that they may or may not want to pay attention to and notice.

^ Just something I would like, then I might too choose to hide the text box sometimes knowing I wont miss anything important unless I'm just not paying attention (a normal problem).

HT likes me, he really, really likes me.

wish granted.  you can minimize the window to nothing by making the box size to nothing with your mouse. :rock :rock.

I would like to be able to put the text on a second monitor. And the clipboard as well.  :old:
