Well if the water were moving in the Guadalupe I'd say go to the canyon and sleep. Mother Nature's A/C there. :)

I've lived in the Caribbean for 20+ years now and never had AC.The trade winds, ocean and a good fan or two help keep things cool. :D  Once you are used to AC I would imagine it is hard to live without it.

Saw a show on the southwest the other night.

They were saying that troubles a brewin because of the ever lowering water level of Lake Mead which helps provide much of the electricity to the region.

No electricity??? No air conditioning. No air conditioning??? A mass exodus from the south west would be imminent.

The states are already crowded enough, where would they go?

Lake levels in Texas are low. We are way behind on rain.

Houston area has been sitting on 100 mostly along with our high humidity.

Cali had a really bad drought year last summer, we were doing heavy mandatory water conservation in the greater LA metropolitan area, you could only water your yard on two evenings/mornings a week or face a pretty fine.  This winter we were fortunate to have enough rain and snow to replenish all our reservoirs, and the lakes in the mountains are full.

Still too early to start singing, but we should have enough water stocked up now to survive even if we have no rain this winter in the entire state.  And the very mild weather we've been having so far this spring and summer is helping keeping those mountain lakes still topped off and full, and August is soon upon us!

(for comparison, my favorite lake I vacation by in Northern Cali, I think had all but one or two boat ramps closed due to the lake being too low (~60% and below) and as a result had some of the worst Labor Day holidays up there for vacationing tourists the last few summers.  (technicaly one ramp will likely still be closed, but it's associated campground will have plenty of shore-front campsites until the lake drops down a few feet and its ramp reopens.))

I know how you felt tupac. I work at a golden chick right now as a cook and our ac went out last week. I had to stand by 5 fryers that were between 325-345 degrees. On top of that it was already 100+ degrees in my area around the fryers. Basically for two days if I wasn't actually breading some chicken I was in our walk in freezer that sits right at 0 degrees

Canyon lake is down a bunch

Yes almost 7 feet down. No water through the outlet and only 60 cfps at Statler. Looks like my Kayaking will not happen on the Guadalupe next month.

I bet the crowds have been thin on River Road.
