Title: I wish training arena having same conditions as other arenas
Post by: icepac on July 19, 2011, 04:04:29 PM
As far as I can see from my limited time in Aces High, the training arena has a fuel burn of 1.0 but the arenas I would assume one would be training for are all fuel burn 2.0.

Is the training arena used to train only for arenas with fuel burn of 1.0?

This is a serious question.

The fuel burn of 1.0 is there to maximize the amount of time in the air. In addition, you can practice at certain weights without burning off the fuel as quickly.

I do not foresee this changing, we may alter some of the other settings but this one is here to stay.

I wish the field objects in the dive-bombing area were actually destructible. Why aren't they?

Not official, but I believe they are indestructable as enabling them to be destructable would also enable other friendly structures to be destructable (IE: A1's FHs).  I believe the workaround is to make them destructable but then imediatley respawn, or simpley disable their destructability.

Del is right, and this feature benefits you. Fuel burn is reduced in the MA because we dont fly for two or 3 hours before we get into combat as it would have been in RL. And our bases are closer to allow us to get to the fun quicker. In the TA you dont want a 2.0 burn because you are there to train. You wouldnt want to have to replane twice as often.

So we train with environmental variables that don't exist in any of the current online arenas.....other than the training arena.

What kind of impact has FB 1.0 in the MA on the training? What kind of training are you referring to that is being influenced negatively by FB 1.0?

The time in the training arena is set to 12 noon and doesn't change. Does this mean that the training you do there will only be applicable when it's 12 noon in the other arenas? No.

If you have a specific problem with the fuel burn rate please let us know what it is so that we can help you.

Training almost always involves a crafted set of circumstances intended to help someone reach a goal as quickly as possible.

Changing the fuel burn rate would act only to inhibit a player from reaching the intended goal.  Allowing objects to be destroyed serves no purpose, but to inhibit those trying to reach the goal of being a better pilot.

I understand why they want objects to be more easily destroyed, the problem is it would also apply to normal training areas. For example, someone could level bomb A1 and be a nuisance of themselves.

We did recently change the hardness and lethality for Coral Sea practice, now that it has been canceled, the settings have returned to the TA standard.

Is there a way to practice manual bombing calibration in the training arena?

If there is a trainer in the TA they can change the setting for you. The easiest way is just to use the training arena offline. You get the airspawn bases with whatever settings you choose.

Actually.....I checked every online arena and only two had fuel burn other than 2.0

One was the training arena and the other was a special events arena where we raced 163s that evening.
