Its currently 5:22 AM and I've been awake for an estimated 31.7 hrs.
I have a cold so I can't breath, its hot and humid, and to top it off, I may have broken some bones in my foot when, in an act of sleep deprived stupidity, I put a 5lb hammer on the edge of my workbench that was currently in use by me, and managed to knock it off and have it land squarely on my right foot while wearing nothing but tennis shoes. Gonna go get it looked at today, hope I didn't break too many bones.
So, this officially sucks :cry.

Wow dude... did you defile an Aztec tomb last month or something? Sorry you're hurting sir.
-
that is rough.. at least lay down for a few hours even if you cant sleep.. some rest is better then none.
-
Sucks man, hope for you to get better soon

Get your foot checked ASAP. The metatarsal bones in the foot if broken and not set+cast correctly can heal in a way that will cause you pain when walking for the rest of your life.
as for sleep... remember: any problem can be solved with the proper application of pron.

Lol, just got back from the doctors, he says he doesn't think its broken. He said it was most likely a 'bruised bone'. Apparently you can bruise bones, you learn something new every day :lol.

Bruised bones can be just as bad or worse than a break. Recovery time can take much longer.
-
Oh..... Well that leaves me feeling.....deflated.

bruised bone is another way of saying you have micro-fractures but the bone did not snap or crack. Thing is, when bone heals it does so in a similar way to when you have a cut on your skin: a scab material forms around the injury. The difference is, in bone, that scab material is bone itself and it does not go away after the healing is done. You're left with a 'bump' of bone where the injury was. That 'bump' is what may cause you pain in the future if it ends up rubbing against tendons or nerves. The reason why casts are put on people is so that the bone has minimal chance to move while its healing so that this 'scab' bump is as small as possible.
You should try to immobilize your foot until it heals (3 weeks).

My G/F's brother stepped on the puck while playing Ice Hockey and folded his ankle backwards. Yes I said that right. Imagine taking your foot and pointing it downward as far as it will go. Now have someone grab your foot and force it downward and backwards so that your toes are pointing behind you. Talk about a bad recovery!
Anyway, he managed to delay his recovery for several months by walking on it when he wasn't supposed to. After they did surgery they had him in a soft cast strapped into a metal cage to keep him from moving it. His pain medication was working better than expected one day so he removed the bracket and went to work. A few hours later he was in excruciating pain and was back at the hospital who was frantically trying to get the swelling down to they could cut into it again. Apparently he managed to rip some pins out of place and undo what his body had already tried for several weeks to fix.
Yeah he's not the brightest candle on the Menorah. Smart guy just lacking a bit of common sense. And to think that he's a Boeing Engineer that works on designing the combat systems on Fighters. And no he's not allowed to talk about it much.

Tigger, thats rough. hockey can mess a man up. took me slap shot to the groin, thank the Lord i was wearing my equipment :lol
-
Oh god, I'm not walking on this foot then. I've got it in a foot brace, will that be good, or will I want a legitimate cast?
-
:salute get well soon
-
jager, try to not walk on it for 2 (two) weeks, then we should have the royal pain in the butt (KT) and you can use all your GV perks playing all day. :D
-
Lol, I intend to completly empty my perk reserves on the King.

whenever I cant sleep regardless of reason I drinka large glass of wine.

I bruised the bones in my foot about 2 years ago. Was down for 4 weeks, had to take a leave of absence from work for it. Honestly, still hurt badly for another 2-3 months after that. Today still aches after a days work. As mentioned above I now have a big knot on my foot where it happened.
I had a severe case... numerous bones in my right foot right under tendons attached to my ankle. Those tendons rub against the lump there and I still have days it's hard to stand for long. As I understand it, you could just end up with some discomfort for a bit, or it could be a long term ordeal. Just depends on the severity of it. Hope you feel better soon.

It's whatever your doc says. I'd say keeping your foot immobile in a soft brace will work. A brace is what most orthopaedics use after the cast has healed a BROKEN bone, and just needs to gain strength or heal up just a teense bit more. I'd say the brace is just dandy. Maybe take some vitamin B and lay out in the sun. This will turn it into vitamin B-12, a crucial vitamin in bone repair and healing.
Here's to a speedy recovery!
