In light of the recent announcment, I would like to request a few rounds of APCR or PzGr 40 (HVAP) ammunition for the M4's and Panzer. It would at least give us the theoretical ability to kill the King Tiger from the front with most tanks.
Go ahead and up-perk the M4, do what you must, but the KingTiger would be the first tank that the majority of tanks don't have even the theoretical ability to kill from the front.

can a king tiger kill another king tiger? what about the regular tiger ?

Yes, KT can kill a KT, but not at extended ranges. Tiger can only penetrate the lower nose, and only out to about 1000yds.
Currently, we have only one, count it, one cheap tank capable of engaging the KT from the front (T-34/85). And thats because of HVAP.
Not asking for half the racks to be stocked with APCR, just a few round, maybe 4, per tank.
-
then better ask for more rounds unless you have perfect aim.

aiming would be a non issue against the KT since these rounds would only be able to penetrate the front from around 200yds. But the point is they CAN penetrate the front, which the normal AP rounds can't do.
These rounds were relativly rare, so most takes could only get their hands on a few of them, if that. Game impact would be minimal aside from Tigers and Panthers needing to watch the range more carefully. I would concider them as emergency "oh crap, Panther up ahead" rounds if it weren't for the upcoming addition of the KT.

OR...you could flank your target, plan an approach, and attack it from the sides or rear. If I'm not mistaken, that was with a few exceptions, how one would go about destroying one.
But it seems you want a "magic bullet approach" all that driving around and planning is too hard? I hear Halo's a popular game...
-
Not a magic bullet, I'm asking for a real round that was issued to both US and German tanks. And it WOULD take planning, and time. The KT's not gonna let you just drive up to 200yds and then pop him in the lower hull with an APCR round.
More time in fact than a flanking manuver, since you have to either wait in ambush and let him come to you, or work your way in close, rushing from cover to cover and waiting for them to forget you.
And asside from the benefit of being able to kill the KT from the front, I think this should be added anyway. Why do the russians get APCR while the US and Germans are left hanging?

Don't worry, most Sherman drivers will kill the kII the same way they kill the Tiger now. When they get back with bombs. :joystick:

or you could flank it :noid
Flanking is what you can call a type of battle tactic. A battle tactic would be used to increase the chances of success or diminish your enemies.
In practicable terms, if you have say, a M4/76 and you are attacking a Tiger II. You could attempt to attack it from the side, where the armor is significantly weaker. That would be what "flanking" is.
So why do you want a rarely used, special type of shell that still is unlikely to be effective at anything but close range against 150-180mm sloped frontal armor? My best guess is you want the satisfaction of destroying a highly perked tank without having to put much thought into it. just aim and shoot right? :aok

What KT dirver is going to let anything get that close? Don't say noob KT drivers, because I suspect to earn the perks for one, they would need some semblance of experience with tanks. Seems pointless if the range is so short. I don't mean to discount that in rare instances in which this would be possible, but if you can get 200 infront without death, why not get behind it instead where you can kill it?
-
Mk-84, I don't understand your resistance to this. This was a round that was produced, issued, and used. It meets qualifications for addition (all that are aplicable). It would be usefull, and it would be HELPFULL.
And again, why do only the russians get APCR?
Seph, its not about giving us a good chance against the KT in a regular tank, its about giving us a 1/1000 chance instead of a 0/1000 chance. People always throw the "it would be too unbalancing, you physicly couldn't kill it with "X aircraft" for "Y reasons"". Why does that argument not hold any water when its turned around?
