When there are game changes that I don't agree with, I try and voice my opinion. I try to base that opinion on what facts or observations in the game that I can draw from.
The recent 12 hour country side switch rule, doesn't affect the way that I play, but I have observed complaints about how others were abusing a "short" side change time. So, the vast majority of players lost some freedom in order to "improve" the game play.
The increase in town percentage has been the only change, that I really consider to be a "game changer". I have observed a major difference in the number and size of attacks, since the percentage grew "again" from 50%. It was a fact that one pass from a bomber could possibly raise a white flag. It is my observation however, that town ack requires more of a fighter or attacker to prepare a town for capture. A third element must bring the troops in.
For a defensive stand it takes one attacker to destroy barracks, vehicle hangars or 1 troop before entering the maproom. So basically, those who complained that their countrymen were too lazy or self absorbed to defend widespread attacks on their fields, or play any type of strategic chess game that promoted small fights across the map, feel more comfortable with the massive horde raids in literally one or two areas of any map no matter the size of the map. (Sorry, I strayed from the facts in calling players lazy or self absorbed, but more than annoyed that "gangs" are rewarded).
My only question for the game designers is how far is too far? :headscratch: All in all, I still enjoy the game and will continue to as long as it is available to me. Perhaps minor adjustments in the future, instead of hot or cold settings may give the desired results with less of the headache from us "know-it-alls".

Pardner if you are looking for strategic understanding you ain't going to find it in AH. Just look at how CV's are used. No one ever bothers to pork the ords at the base they are using the CV at. It get sunk right away and every one is surprised.
It reminds me of an old film I saw of a baboon who turns over a rock and see a snake and faints dead away. As soon as he came to he turns over the same rock see's the same snake and faints again. He keeps doing the same thing over and over because he never learns. That is the strategic understand I see in 98% of the player on AH.

I wouldn't use that as a "blanket statement"... that everyone does that. I will agree that MOST players dont bother to prep a base before announcing the presence of a cv off shore by upping from it... but the more experienced players do. When a base is attacked properly by a CV group the fight can go on for quite some time... and it becomes a race to capture before the ords come back up, or the defender flies in bombers from another field to sink it. This assumes of course that the TG commander doesnt take the time to totally flatten the town, then totally flatten the base prior to launching aircraft and making the base flash... giving the attackers a relatively easy capture as long as the defending country doesnt notice the CV offshore blowing everything up. Which, if I may digress... is just silly. If you are dropping shells on a base or town... it should flash... period.
Then again... CV's were never that close to shore in RL during combat operations either. You had assault task groups hammering the shore defenses and were totally separate from the CV task forces which operated far out of shore battery and visibility range. Unfortunately, AH has combined those two elements into one... and it is what it is.. and therefore different tactics must be used.

I haven't played for about six months but still keep up with news when I can.
So you now have to change countries every 12 hours?
Wow. I keep up with changes hoping for a few good ones I would like but haven't seen them yet... bummer.
Glad its changing for the better for others though.

So you now have to change countries every 12 hours?
No. You can "only" change countries every 12 hours. Doesn't say anywhere that you have to.

I just read that, thanks. I actually like that. Wtg hatch!

Nope, yep, yep.
The B-29 eats perks like a pig, takes off like a pig, climbs like a pig, attracts attention like a pig on a spit at an all-you-can-eat full of fat people, and tends to fall apart on orbital re-entry.

:salute Bortas,
To my very dear Duxford pals, I thought that I would give you all a break from my ranting on squad channel. Unfortunate for Knights, I have joined their ranks and they are stuck with my rants, or find their squelch feature useful. Coming from Rooks, since 2000 when I started playing as TigerZ, I have noticed certain groups that work well together, but as a whole, communication is limited. The differences in the group dynamics translates directly to the country gains and losses.
I have to agree with AKP that there are strategists that play AH all the time. In my opinion, the game has been dumbed down to the point that the only stratedgy needed is the potential to gather a larger HORDE than your opponent. Once you get that ball rolling, there is no need to attack base strat targets. You just settle in on top of a base and suck the souls from any defender that dare oppose from below.
The only other strategy neccessary to have fun in AH, is the ability to recognize and avoid the descending horde.

After reading another long (very long actually) thread concerning this topic, there appears to be some who choose to create drama. I agree this is a damn cartoon. Well stated :salute

Maybe I have to dumb down my opinions also??? Or maybe this thing called a bulletin board forum is for those who wish to offer opinions about the game for discussion and not a place to flame the poster.
To answer usvi, how many times do you have fun lifting from a field being vulched? I must say the Brewster does quite well in twisting and dodging over eager vulchers and introducing them to some "earthy" humility. Still it makes much more sense to better the odds and go offensive in areas where the Horde is not. The 50% town percentage actually rewarded those small forces that met over aggressive hordes with multiple attacks in a broad range of areas. Regardless of the country population differences there were evenly matched fights all over the map. The "drama" was introduced by those :cry who couldn't stand the tides being turned in favor of base capture for a change.
I agree that some of the responses to the changes are over the top, and while using a 4 seconds vox transmission, I am not as "legnthy" in my opinions about faulty logic so thus the rants. However, here I have the ability to put together 4 or 5 sentences to discuss my thoughts.

Its a load of rubbish, I've looked at a map plenty of times to see a huge mass of red dots imb to a base, it gets called out on country channel loads of people up to defend get some alt while the incoming hoarde stays 'NOE' oblivious to the fact they are fully visible to the people they are attacking, incoming hoarde is greeted with a defence, hoarde gets slaughtered, pondering c47s get slaughtered, whine goes up on 200 about spys being to blame, probably email gets sent to HTC about how spys ruin the game, rinse and repeat.
The bit that gets them angry is they were not able to sneak in relatively unopposed or not at all and capture the base or pork the base to set up a vulch, there is a common theme here were people want to take no risks for a reward. Be that through outnumbering your opponent, shooting him while he trys to up, or sneaking on to a base for a capture. They have made it as easy as possible for themselves but they still fail, the easy scapegoat is the 'spy' or someone who switched looking for the opposite of what they wanted ie some action or a fight, hes to blame it couldn't possibly their fault.
The ability to get better from a air combat perspective is sitting right there in front of them, a training arena with a population of around 5 on average, instead of trying to better themselves they blame imaginary excessive spying in the game, lazy lazy.
This is also reflected in certain special events were the point is to fight only a few sign up for these, the point for most players is to win not to fight to win, if they think they cannot have the odds loaded in their favour they will just not participate.
Hitech punishing those who seek to engage in a fight to sooth the paranoid egos of those who do not want to fight, and are to lazy to try and get better is completely unacceptable to me.

Perdue,
I see that you are frustrated by the accusations. I am not 100% sure that is why the country time limit was increased. My underlying theme to this thread is the "hot" or "cold" settings. In the case of country time, it went from 1 hour to 12 hours ( I am not sure of that even, because I don't change that often). For those that do change for practical reasons (eny, lack of fights, etc.) their freedom has been reduced.
My point that I wish to have considered is that there are a lot of hours in between. Who knows, 3 hours may be long enough, 4, 5 or 6 even.
I consider myself a pretty active player, and I am not sure of how many days that I play for more than 3 hours at a time. I am not certain that the change was implemented for the reason that you cited either (but most players suspect it was as you say). Certainly, if I had ill intentions, I would know how to use the 12 hour ticker to my advantage also.
So, game changes are up to the designers, but the designers also allow us to have this conversation here. I just ask that the designers take a closer look at less dramatic swings in settings or even experimentation and evaluation of impact of game changes. It's all good with me.

chilli....MAH MAN!! i think the 12 hour thingy is good in a way... what i'm actually worried more abt is the after effect...here's a story...i switched to camp at the v85, v76 spawn point from the rooks.... there weren't any fights to be found on any front (surprised we didn't attack either side or had the need to defend).... well the switch was for half hour or 45 mins at that time... so i said heck.. lets have some fun...
well i switched back to the rooks in half hour/45mins(felt so foreign to be in knit or bishland)........then came our rook buddies which i fought hard with them for 10 over hours to win the map finally... what a feeling that was..exuberance!!.... till i saw the system msg..
SYSTEM:Rooks have won the war
SYSTEM: You have not been awarded perk points
well one thing aces high has taught me these many years... is...SUCK IT IN and TAKE THE CRAP!! great patience i got now...thanks dale and pals..i can feel my tumor subsiding already...
chilli you're a dear pal...so my advice to ya... is suck it in and take the crap...
