Title: New P40-B Gunsight Location

Has anyone spotted where the physical gunsight device is located in the cockpit yet?............. :)

You are looking at the graticule reflecting off a 45 degree glass plate. HiTech has chosen to call the graticule a (gunsight) in the game as a generic term. You need to be in the P40-B cockpit  to find (it) the gunsight device probably an N-2A.

Gunsight - Physical device with an internal lightbulb to project a graticule image onto a glass plate or windscreen.
Graticule - Gunsight projected ring with dot and or lines image.
Reflector - 45 degree glass plate mounted directly to the gunsight or on the inside of the windscreen or the windscreen itself.

default.bmp - Replaces in game the graticule image plate or adjustable plates in the gunsight device.
Alpha slider - Replaces the light bulb dimmer knob on the gunsight device in the game.

Plane.txt - is the current gunsight.bmp used in each aricraft.
AlphaPlane.txt - is the Alpha slider position setting for that aricraft.

Looks like the reflector plate is attached to the windshield itself. So my guess is behind the instruments?

You will only find it by spawning out a P40-B and looking around inside the cockpit. It's not obvious at first.

for some reason i have no gunsight on my p40E.i tried changing it to every gunsight i have and it doesnt change

I posted about it in the Bugs forum. It only wants to use the (default.bmp) file.

Sorry grizz it's not by the Fox theater here in oakland. Or, not much up dawg, whats up with you....And I only have cats so no updog's around my house. Does yours when he cleans himself?? Thats one of the few ways you would know about updogs other than knowing a veternarian or you updog from personal experience.....

Keep lookin it's there. Just like the lens is missing from the N-3A gunsight in the F4U-1 and no one has noticed.

Now if Waffel would find the lens for the N-3A in the F4U-1.
