Title: ack settings
Post by: shermanjr on July 31, 2011, 11:48:18 AM
i think for each arena early mid and late war the ack setting should be different. i don think early war ack should be as powerful and as accurate as late war. as war goes on guns get improvements just as planes do.

and it has been happenin alot to me lately that ack seems to one hit pilot or oil or a vital piece somewhere EVEn when im moven away and goign 450+. and i have seem countless enemy pilot fly tho our field ack and not even get damaged and the r flying 2-4k abover base olny going about300 and even going 3 4 passes thro our ack. i dont see how gunnery against me could be so damn good and against them be like my gunners r drunk

I suppose this is a post for more realistic acks?

In otherwords, the OP would want field acks such as this firing at attacking planes?

Japanese air raid against Yontan airfield.

AAA fires in defense against a German night air raid.

I'd be careful in asking for more realistic acks because if this wish was granted, you'd never get close to an airfield or CV task groups.

I think what he is sayin is that the 1939-1941 planes shouldn't have to contend with 1945 Essex / Fletcher Classed proximity fuse equipped mega ack wall and instead have something more along the lines of what the Swordfish faced against the Bismark.

I've always though it should be suicide for a single or even paired aircraft to attack an airfield.

I sorta agree with this, One of the reasons ive always thought EW is empty is because you have early war planes having to deal with late war settings.

What are the late war settings? :headscratch:

I'd guess at field distances, strat hardnesses, AA effectiveness.

Puffy ack can kill you up to 39,999 feet.
