Title: Wireless WiFi HD head cam?
Post by: Wolfala on August 01, 2011, 01:06:56 PM
Trying to find a camera I can stick on a helmet while underneath aircraft so I can show owners what's up with their planes in real time. Vis a vis ustream or skype. Anything like that exist as yet?

I know there are a bunch of motorcycle helmet based cameras (some attach to the bike's forks) but I don't know of any real time wireless uploads. The films are all (to my knowledge) uploaded after the fact.

On second thought, a bunch of the motorcycle cameras have external outputs. Set the camera, run the a/v out to a laptop, use an air-card and link the two computers together (VNC or something cheap).

it's not quite realtime, but youcan get a digital borescope from snap on that records....also, there's a less expensive version at home depot.

if you have access to a laptop i would go with a wireless PC Cam , you advise the client of the cam address then he can watch as you go over the plane, getting it mounted to a helmet would be the only chore one would think.

edit.... theres a ton of info here, this company will build what ever you want, from private sector to government agencys.

Tell them to get under the aircraft with you and point to them the discrepancies.

with someone like me, that would be great. i friggin LOVE seeing how they work, and what holds em together.

i fear a lot of people do not share that feeling though.

I havn't been close to a working plane in years, I miss the feeling. Seeing em work is beyond what I can say is awesome in every level.

Several phones can do this. All you need is a holder for the phone to attach to the helmet.

My phone can do that, skype is on there by default but not enabled for video calls just yet. There are more apps you can get on the market for video calling so I just use those.

There is a camera that some hunting show guys are using that they mount on their hats and beside their scopes or on a rail along the barrel that allows an option to hook up via mini HDMI and that can be used with a transmitter to allow real time video. I have to call a buddy of mine that sponsors one of these hunters to see what they are using.
