That big flying yellow tracer isn't good enough to spot the enemy tank?

Not to mention it's always daytime in the MA, making muzzle flashes have a really small effect. Although night time... That would be a sight to behold, 20+ tanks duking it out in the dark.

It'd be nice, but I'd rather we have better graphics effects that are more commonly seen, fires, smoke, clouds, vapor trails, maybe dust behind tanks driving on sand even.

Hmmm. main gun muzzle flash and dust flying! That would be sweet.

There would be a con to the M4-76. The M4-76 was reported to have issues with dust where it flew up and prevented follow-up shots.

+1 anyway

After reading the point about daytime flash, I would rather see whisps of smoke that would be a lighter version of the engine start smoke.

Need to have these things optional. Like a button called "enable advanced effects". These could be a major frame rate killer.

I am not so sure about it being a major framerate jump.  We already have the smoke from vehicle starts, and damaged vehicles.  A small puff of smoke, should only be seen from a certain distance and even then it shouldn't linger much longer than the round itself.

The only difference should really be the "flash light effect" I think.  In broad daylight watching armored divisions run test fires, you still see a significant blast coming out of the muzzle.  Think of news footage from Desert Storm.

well yes, but imagine V85 spawn at night. It wouldn't be uncommon to have upwards of 40 people there if the fight is good. And if you wan't the muzzle flash modeled, wouldn't it make sense that they would model the bright flash from exploding tanks?

All in all, I give it a +1..... just make the exta effects optional (they don't gain anything from turning them off, they actually lose something. They can't see enemy muzzle flashes, while his remain visible to everyone else).

Would also like to lights on the airfield, and maybe a modeling of night vision, assuming we get this along with night time. Gamma just automaticly turns down for a bit untill you're 'eyes' adjust to the darkness.

Don't need to imagine V85 spawn at night, we don't have night.

We used to have night time.  Many players would log off.  I truly enjoyed it, but I had no score to protect  :devil

Would it be similar to the hit sprite we currently have for armor?  I still like the smokin' gun twist.  Think of it as one more spawn camp buster.  Eventually, a lingering whiff of smoke would point to a hidden tank's position.  More realistic, maybe??  But where on planet earth do tanks get beamed in by Scotty??

A momentary flash would be no more visible than the tracer round I would expect.  The number of hit sprites don't seem to create frame rate problems so why would a muzzle flash.  Now, smokin' gun might add a bit, but not as much as the start up or any smoke generating damage model.  Granted it might occur more often, thus adding one more thing.  But, the size, distance of effect and duration should make it frame rate friendly I would hope.

Where is radioactive man?  Someone send up the RA signal.... we need an answer......  :x

If gun recoil doesnt hinder the FPS then I adding in a "puuf" of smoke or a muzzle flash shouldnt be too taxing.

I say go for it!   :aok
