Had close to the same temps around here the past few weeks.

OK for Texas, I suppose.

Completely atypical around here.

It's pretty hot here in Billings right now. All the way up to 83. I expect it to go down to a nice 55 to 60 tonight. It was about 46 in Butte MT last night. I had to turn the AC off!

rained yesterday, the day before, and both nights here in nj.....off and on. one was a pretty nasty thunderstorm, with 22 cal pellet sized sleet(or hail) mixed in it.

today it's in the 80's. last night, i was comfy at around 70 or so.

heat advisories were dropped in most of central Georgia today. From what I heard a person died a few days ago of heat in a foot ball field. I know its worse in Texas and places like that but us Georgians aren't use to the heat either.

In February, we had a near record low of -16, then on Tuesday, the temp was 114F.  A 130F swing in a about 7 months.  I've seen some record temps for this area, and most were pre 1934.  I think it was in 1934, when the temp hit 115F here and the next year we had a record low.  It balances out.

me and a buddy are going camping as soon as the highs go into the lower 80's and maybe low 70's. We are also planning on going for winter break right before Christmas. Only thing stopping us now is the blasted heat

34' was a year that you had the rare heat wave like you are in one now.  Same in my area.

no. we had a somewhat extreme winter last winter. with it came this extreme summer. at least around here. this upcoming winter will be kinda mild compared to the last 2 here, if the pattern holds.

South Texas is miserable, although it is only 100 here, the humidity is out of sight.  I would take 145 in Mosul Iraq any day.  There is is a dry heat, I know anything over 100 is just f,,ing hot, but 100 with high humidity is a killer, at least in the sand box, up north it is a dry heat.  We have burned more square miles due to brush fires, than the whole state of New Jersey has, and with the heat, there is no end in sight.

It's been a record year for fires in the US. If I remember correctly several states have broken all time records for most acres burned in a year.

Texas and most of the country to the North and East of Texas is experiencing a very dry drought right now.  The severe drought is unusual to most parts and setting many drought and heat related records (however the West's drought ended this year and because of the late spring the reservoirs are still full.  Also, Lake Mead finaly went up last month in water elevation for the first time since I think '97 or '94 (I'd have to look the article back up, but I think they were looking at an increase of ~10% when all is said and done this annual season)).  It's also been unusually hot this summer for most the country, compounding the drought, the wild fires are just a side-effect of no rain and tinder-dry brush.  Hopefuly they get lots of rain in the near to imediate future, all around it'd solve a lot of the torubles they're having.  The fire season hasn't even started here in Southern Cali yet but is dawning upon us as we speak.  The prolonged spring/winter weather is simply pushing it back, so as our fire season is just kicking into gear we're hoping the summer and our fire season doesn't last too long and this mild weather keeps up (*knocks on wood* mid August and still not a day of the gale-force Santa Anna winds that blow hot and strong in from the desert).
