Question for you skinners and HTC if need be:
My grandfather's unit was the 5th Bomber Group/ 72nd Bomber Squadron. I don't have any pictures that show the entire length of either of his bombers, but I do have pictures of the nose art and name of both of the aircraft that he flew during combat and to chauffeur General Millard Harmon [ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Millard_Harmon ] around the islands. If there are photos available of the 5th/72nd B24's around (and I'm sure there are) are you skinners able and willing to put the markings of the 2 separate aircraft onto 1 skin? Thanks-

Odds are pretty good that the bomber used to fly the General around was not a combat bird at the time.
If you can post a photo of Grandpa's combat bird, I'm betting we can track down the rest of the detail. Even the nose art name would help as there are some great resources on the B24 for that.

You are correct, General Harmon's B24 had no guns, extra radios, extra fuel capacity, and a "cabin" for meetings, etc. It was not painted (or painted silver/gray) and was called "My Ever Lovin' Dove" (Gen. Harmon's wife had "dove" as a nickname).
I will scan a bunch of photos at the office as soon as I can and get them posted. I would be very grateful if I could find someone to skin it. :aok

Your problem is going to be it was an unarmed transport there for not allowed under HTC rules as others will eventually point out to you.
Along with some other issues such as never dropped bombs & so on & so on. I would suggest you contact HTC direct & ask for an exception as it is a family situation.
I don't think any of the skinners will do it unless it is given the OK by HTC.
Unless you just want a personal skin for your own use offline?
May be better off finding more on the other plane.

I would think we can find the info on Grandpa's combat bird if you can get us the nose art. Any other bits would be great.

I don't see why HTC would make an exception because it has a family relevance. The precedent is there. Surely it stands to reason it shouldn't be skinned in-game. Unarmed converted transports should no more be allowed than circus formation craft, or unarmed Bf109 prototypes or unarmed squadron hack P-40s.

Perhaps I was not clear enough in my original post: there are 2 different (actually 3, 1 crashed) B24D's that were flown by my grandfather while performing his duties. One was used in bombing missions (named "The Pansy" and the 2rd was used to haul around General Harmon. I'm going to be asking to have the B24D, the one that was used to bomb Japanese shipping and targets on the "Mandates", and Bougainville to be skinned. I need to get the photos scanned and uploaded.
I am not asking to have the bus skinned. That is a quite boring skin to look at besides.

Our b-24 is a J, with the nose turret, not the D with the glazed nose.

I'm well aware of that, but I'm under the impression that HTC will allow skins to be modeled on variants older/newer if they are not available in game. Yes?

I think only versions with a nose turret are acceptable. :(
