Is it possible to have someone gun while another drives a tank? If not, would this be a good idea?
I rarely run the tanks even though I did in real life for over a decade. This would make for interesting tank fights.

It used to be possible, but the person who the tank belonged to was stuck in the driver's position and the person joining was stuck in the various gun positions. After the "commander" update with the removal of the tank interiors, I'm not sure how it works. You could always go into the training arena and ask someone to join you in a tank.
(I seem to remember there being an exploit where a gunner could see GV icons, too...)
-
Im not so sure it would be a good thing under the current coding. The TC does it all from the top "unbuttoned" position, so unless HTC is able to separate the 2 tasks (TC driving separate from gun and turret control), it would not be very conducive to smooth tankin'.

they don't have interiors any more or do they just have them not excessable?

I have no idea about computer coding but...
They could create the option of either TC or gunning. When someone joins the person already in the tank gets to accept as TC or gunner. The TC would drive the tank, sit in the hatch and, like in the real thing, slave the turrent to designated target. The gunner gets motion sickness as they drive around and once target called out, goes to work.
May be a bad idea but something to work with. I did tanks for many a year. The current modeling is fine and all though I would prefer teamwork allowed by two in a vehicle. As an example, firing from defilade requires the TC to keep the maingun slaved roughly on target. Gunner acquires once site picture above the ground, then driver slowly inches forward until tube is above depression and has a clear field of fire. Gunner calls out, vehicle stops, gunner engages, TC determines if they re-engage that target, acquire another or seek different firing position.
It would add the teamwork that took place in WW2 and beyond. It would make Patton proud.

i recall htc saying the fact that they wouldn't have to model the interiors anymore was a bonus to the new system, it would allow them to release more tanks more quickly.

IMO i liked the old system. but i think they took out the making of the interiors of the tank because they got lazy. id like to see the inside of my tiger 2. always wondered what it looks like. and the new tiger 1. but, those are all lost now.

you're joking right? the interiors weren't that well detailed or accurate, superficial at best. look at how many gv additions have been made since they changed the way they do things compared to before. the new system is more functional, though automatic transmissions aren't that great unless you're on flat ground.

have you noticed i only said the NEW TIGERS? also, the old system was better because the turret turned around faster while in the gunners view, and that was alot better. also, being able to control what gear you were in helped alot. especially when your climbing the mountain to ruin a spawn camp. i dont really like the new "commander" view because the slightest movement of your mouse starts moving the turret and if your trying to hide, bumping the mouse/joystick kind of gives your position away because you have this huge arse 3-ton turret with a large barrel sticking out traversing. not many people would miss that. thats my reasoning. im sure your going to blab on about how this system is better, one way or another your going to try to get me to go over to the new system.
also, since this new system only 1 tank has been added, and one has been upgraded. not much to me.

you are aware you can turn off mouse view completely, right?

the turret traverse rates are more realistic now. you're generally spouting something about wanting something "more realistic", so the new traverse rates should make you happy. i don't drive gv's much but i can usually control what gear i'm in. turn off the "mouse view" and you won't have to worry about touching your mouse.

don't know your tanks very well do you?

try if you can to take note of the obvious differences, not an "upgrade", different tank.

Tiger 1 was UPGRADED as in it was re-done.
Tiger 2 was ADDED. and i said that the GUNNERS view wasnt right. im sure that not all gunners would traverse that slowly while looking through their sights. honestly, read carefully before you start pointing out "flaws"

hey dippy, the traverse rate the "gunner" experiences is the "turret" traverse rate. seriously, you're not dumb so why are you making me educate you on tanks here?
did you forget the the recent addition of the panther in your math?

the panther was added before the new GV system, research some more please...also, while in the commander position, the turret traverses faster than when you are in the gunners position.

never paid much attention, maybe it was.

no it doesn't, might appear that way to you but it doesn't. turn off the mouse view and use the keyboard, you will see where the traverse rate is the same between the 2 positions.
