Title: What it's all about
Post by: CAP1 on August 16, 2011, 08:41:30 PM
about a month or so ago, i was gettinc closed up. had everything in the bays, tools locked up, all the doors down, 'cept for one. that one stays up till i'm ready to set the alarm.

anyway, this older guy pulls up in a 4runner. he comes in the office, asking me if i can help him. as i saw him pull in, i noticed an out of state tag, so i went out to look at the problem.
his a/c belt was squealing intermittently, but not in danger of coming off. i explained to him, that this belt was nearly impossible to get at without getting the truck on the lift, and that with everything locked up, i couldn't do anything for him right then. he asked when i could, and i told him that i could handle it first thing in the morning.
he came in, i got it in the air, tightened that belt, and hit the other ones too, just to be sure. it looked like they were newly installed, and whoever did it, made the classic mistake of not tightening them quite enough. i used to see it all the time when v-belts were common. i actually made the same mistake a couple of times. so i got him on his way, for stupidly cheap, and told him to have a safe trip home.

fast forward to yesterday. i got a letter in the mail at the shop. it was from this guy. he actually took the time to sit down, and type up a thank you letter for getting him in first thing in the morning, and getting him safely on his way.

for a monday morning.......THAT countered all the bad crap that generally happens on a monday. it's not often that we hear good stuff in my field.....so when we do, it puts the sun out, even if it's pouring rain outside.

THIS is what it's all about.  :aok

Good on you for fixing him up.
Good on him for the acknowledgement.
