Title: Flew a B-239 yesterday
Post by: Rich52 on August 19, 2011, 10:56:46 AM
Didnt do nothing special in it other then 2 or 3 assists. I got picked off when I was scoring hits on a 109. Had a couple sorties in it, then jumped in a high eny Yak too.

And you know what ? It was fun. I always thought the truly "fun" planes in the game "start" at 20 eny and work their way up. The 239 and Yak-9 are two of AHs funnest fighters. :salute

There are LOTS of very good aircraft with an ENY of 20+.  It is a shame that the ENY 5 guys dont branch out a wee bit a learn that there are more than the P51D, La7, and Spit16 in AH.

I-16 is insanely fun to fly, and you never seem to get hit in it either.

The Mossie is definitely a fun bird. Probably my third favorite plane in the game to fly, next to the P38 and P47 respectively.

P47-D25 and D-40 are the funnest to me :t  those planes are bullet sponges and turn like spits. (well, the way i fly em they do)

fighting in the yak and 239 is always a challange, the 239 is slow and has a bad view of the 6, and the yak to me, is too soft. other than that, they are very fun planes.

I've been flying the ki61 a lot lately, it's eny is 30.  You can really pile up the perkies!  A few kills landed and you score 14, 18, 22 perks.  If I flew perked fighters it would be even more cool!   :D

Spits and 51s are still the most fun to me. I'll always be a noob at heart.  :airplane:

Brewsters, P-39s, lesser spits, FM2, LA-5, P-40, C-205, KI-67s, The Yaks, and I remember when I was with the 484'th when the B-25H came out the fun we used to have flying missions in it. The game has so much to offer, and I dont even include German and Japanese iron cause i dont fly em much, other then the usual spixteens, LA-7s, run-90s, 51D...ect Its almost like you havnt even played the game until you have tried these earlier planes.

I miss the B-25H and Mossie missions we used to have. The P-39 and IL2 ones. I do miss them.

Flew a few sorties in the Mossie last night.  One I bagged a P-47D-40, F6F-5 and P-40E before being shot down.  12 perk points.

109f4 can give a spit16 some real trouble below 200mph. :devil

Well I gotta say all these P-51 and B-17 missions are making me groan at night. Most of all when the 51s are loaded with enough gas to fly 10 missions in a row without refueling. Whatever happened to the varied and historical missions we "Rooks" used to run ? Theres a huge Hangar full of all kinds of airplanes to run missions with.

I dont like pointing this out on comms cause it will start drama but a P-51D with 100% fuel, and drop tanks, can fly around the entire map twice. Why load it so to attack a base 1 or 2 sectors away ? And why not use other plane sets also if you want to stay accurate with history ?

Last night I got bored with all the low eny planes, the Knit mobs, the gameplay, and went into WW1. Which was a 0 the entire time I sat in there. Pitiful waste of a huge plane base in Aces High. Last good mission I was on was with JU-88s on a torpedo run with German iron flying cover.

Brew are extremely fun to fly against in a A6M3. Had that opportunity twice this tour. Both were blasts.

Yes, I love the I-16 when a base is being vulched because I can usually take off & turn hard immediately to keep the B'nzers off me. Occasionally one will auger trying too hard to stay on me or will pull straight out in front on my sights and lose a wing etc.  :salute

As long as nothing shoots you in the underside, at which point you have roughly 3 minutes left before meeting Mother Earth. :P

I always enjoy Hap's missions. B-25Cs and P-40Bs for escorts. Massive fun!
