I'm glad it's not in Houston anymore. Was such a hassle for folks needing to go into town or close by.

Ok :headscratch:  I'm just excited that I get to go to one....

what ever they have to answer for is something I no nothing about....

I'm a NASCAR guy , but I enjoy all kinds of racing...Indy , F1 and the likes....It'll be cool to see the guys I watch on TV run those quick donut F1 cars around in person. All the rest...politics and F1 racing body crap I don't keep up with.

DC has always been one of my favorite drivers.  I miss his attitude as a driver, I'd like to think that Vettell learned a thing or three from him as a rookie.   He's doing a good job with the BBC to, some of the features with him and Martin Brundle have been pretty funny.

Such as the debacle in Indy when many teams and drivers refused to race because of an issue with the tire, or that time Shumi and Barrichello played paddy cake at the finish line, just to name a couple

Yea the Indy thing was stupid, but it wasn't so much an issue with the tire, as an issue with the track.  I don't know why the FIA wouldn't just put in a chicane before that turn like the drivers (and Michelin) asked for.  I don't blame the drivers for not participating, they did not want to die spinning into a wall at 200+ mph.

But all I have to say is get over it.  Indy was a stupid track for F1 anyway, nothing like that will happen at the new Austin track.

The ONLY thing in my time as an F1 fan that still really, really ticks me off was way back in '89 when Balestre disqualified Aryton Senna (for NOT going the wrong way on the track   ) thus handing the title to his friend and countryman Prost.  The most blatant abuse of power I can think of by a sports administrator.

Really, an issue with the track, then why did the teams running the other tire brand make the race without protest?

Nothing to get over. F1 is what it is.

Well it was the track/tire combination, yea the Michelins had an issue on that corner and the Bridgestones didn't as much.    What I'm saying is that even with the Michelins it would not have been an issue if they had only make a simple change to the track (built a chicane before the banking) but for some reason the FIA did not want to.

Yea, I'm surprised they didn't wait for at least some asphalt to do their little promo.

It was all about the tires - Michelin could not guarantee their tires would withstand the stresses of the track as the ones provided were not manufactured correctly to suit it - Even the replacement ones they wanted to bring in from europe could also not be guaranteed to be safely used. The tires could not be safely used even if track could be safely changed - which the track management could also not guarantee - the effected teams themselves thought speed limiting michelin shod cars was dangerous and unworkable. The entire farce was down to Michelin, and michelin alone

Bridgestone had used information provided to them by Firestone which had run indycars only weeks before.

I think you have F1 mixed up for Cart Series that ran downtown 98-01 and then at the Reliant complex 06-07. I wish they would bring it back with the American Le Mans Series again.
